THE POSITION:
The Accountant will be responsible for preparing financial reports, maintaining accounts, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. The role involves supporting the financial decision-making process by providing accurate and timely financial information, maintaining the integrity of accounting systems, and contributing to the smooth financial operations of the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and present monthly financial statements and reports to Directors and related parties to assist with strategic decision-making.
Perform month-end reconciliations and maintain account registers for various business clients.
Execute bookkeeping tasks, including transaction entries, journal entries, and payroll processing.
Ensure timely preparation and processing of invoices in the accounting system.
Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring prompt and accurate processing.
Analyse and process Business Activity Statements (BAS) and superannuation contributions in accordance with ATO compliance requirements.
Attend internal and external training seminars to enhance personal and professional development.
Ensure that all financial statements are understandable, relevant, accurate, and reliable.
Monitor, update, and forecast cash flow schedules to ensure adequate financial planning.
Examine operational costs and company income/expenditure, reporting on variances and any unusual financial activities.
Analyse monthly accounts, compare them to previous periods and highlight any significant deviations or anomalies.
Review the company’s balance sheet, income statements, and cash flow statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
REQUIREMENTS:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting, reconciliation, and compliance with ATO regulations.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in bookkeeping, financial reporting, and analysis.
Experience in handling payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
Familiarity with ATO regulations, Business Activity Statements, and superannuation contributions.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly and concisely.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems.
