OVERVIEW:
Pure Desi, a renowned provider of premium and authentic Indian sweets, snacks, and desserts, is seeking an experienced and qualified Accountant to manage and oversee the company’s financial operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards and regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
Ensure compliance with taxation laws and regulations, including GST, PAYG, and other relevant tax obligations.
Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Conduct regular financial forecasting and budgeting, providing insights to the management for strategic decision-making.
Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and liaise with external auditors as required.
Implement and maintain robust financial controls to safeguard company assets.
Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, prepare financial reports, and identify discrepancies.
Advise management on financial performance, trends, and recommendations for cost-saving measures.
Stay updated with changes in financial regulations and accounting practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
REQUIREMENTS:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
At least 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the food or retail industry.
Strong knowledge of Australian taxation laws and accounting standards.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Attributes:
Previous experience in the food industry or retail sector is an advantage.
CPA or CA certification (or working towards) will be highly regarded.
