They now seek an experienced Carpenter to join their team in Campbellfield, Victoria.
The Role
This is a full time role with an annual salary of $73,500 - $80,000 plus superannuation.
The Responsibilities
Some tasks may include
Analyse blueprints and specifications to accurately determine materials needed, dimensions, and installation processes for caravan construction
Choose high-quality timbers and aluminium materials suited for caravan construction, ensuring durability and structural integrity, and order these materials while managing inventory
Mark out precise layouts on materials according to caravan designs, considering the unique properties of aluminium and timber
Use tools and machinery to cut aluminium, timber, and other materials to specified dimensions for parts of the caravan
Assemble cut parts using nailing, screwing, and advanced joinery techniques, especially for constructing the aluminium framework and timber components
Build robust aluminium frameworks and roof framing, ensuring the caravan structure is sound and true
Lay sub-flooring and floorboards, considering the weight and balance implications of using aluminium structures
Install fascia panels, sheathe roofs with appropriate materials, and apply exterior wall cladding, including aluminium sheets, for durability and weather resistance
Accurately fit door and window frames into the caravan structure, ensuring a snug and secure fit to prevent leaks and drafts
Craft and assemble interior structures and fittings, such as cabinets and benches, from wood and incorporate aluminium elements where necessary
Master traditional carpentry skills to cut precise wood joints essential for the interior fittings and structural integrity of timber elements within the caravan
Construct formwork for concrete applications, such as for caravan annexes or associated structures when necessary
Conduct repairs on existing caravans, including replacement and refurbishment of wooden fittings, and address issues with aluminium components
Work with plastic laminates, Perspex, and metals for interior detailing and finishing, ensuring a modern and durable finish
Reinforce joints and attachments to maximize sturdiness and durability without compromising aesthetic appeal and functionality
Inspect each completed item to ensure that it has been constructed accurately, and that the necessary finishes have been applied
The Requirements:
Relevant trade qualifications in Carpentry
At least 2 years’ carpentry experience in a commercial/professional capacity
at least 2 years’ experience in caravan carpentry fabrication and installation
Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings
Must have construction white card and manual handling awareness certificate
Physical dexterity to carry heavy equipment up to 20KG
Have at least 2 contactable work referees
Experience to perform the aforementioned duties
