We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Shipwright to join our dynamic team.
Job Description: As a Shipwright, you will be responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining various types of vessels.
You will work with a variety of materials including metal, wood and fibreglass, ensuring that each project meets our high standards of craftsmanship and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Construct and repair wooden, fiberglass, and metal vessels.
Interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
Perform tasks such as caulking, framing, planking, and finishing.
Fit and install masts, frames, fittings, machines, shafts, safety equipment and other structures
Assess repair requirements and procedures for damaged vessels
Attach metal parts, such as fittings, plates, and bulkheads, to ship, using brace and bits, augers, and wrenches;
Inspect and maintain the structural integrity of vessels.
Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely project completion.
Adhere to safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Shipwright or similar role.
Strong knowledge of boat construction and repair techniques.
Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
Minimum 2 years of experience with adaptability.
Trade certificate (optional).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
Relevant certifications or trade qualifications are a plus.
