Overall Responsibility
Reporting to the Leading Hand, this role is responsible for assigned work daily.
Preparing surfaces of vehicles and equipment to be painted, match and mix colours, apply paint.
You will be expected to ensure daily tasks set by the Leading Hand are met and completed within set time frames whilst maintaining an elevated level of safety and awareness.
Duties
1. Removing rough spots on panels
2. Sanding surfaces by hand and with power tools,
3. Masking areas not to be painted with tape and paper,
4. Colour matching and mixing paints to match paint shades, and selecting pre-mixed paints,
5. Applying primer and finishing coats using spray guns, and sanding surfaces between coats,
6. Touching up paint work and applying polish to vehicles
7. Removing masking papers, and waxing and polishing finished paintwork
8. Painting signs and artwork on vehicles
9. Treating vehicles with rust-proofing chemicals
10. Ensure the assigned work conforms to quality, time and productivity requirements
11. Ensure all work-related activities are performed safely
12. Ensure the Leading Hand provides you sufficient scope of work BEFORE works are commenced
13. Monitor the use of workshop materials and care of equipment and plant to minimise waste and damage, reporting any operation issues and damage immediately to the Leading Hand.
14. Attend internal and external training and professional courses to continually develop your relevant knowledge, techniques and skills as required.
15. Ensure that work is performed as per job card or ITP’s (Inspect & test procedures), referring to the Leading Hand for direction and clarification.
16. Carry out any other duties required by the Leading Hand to enable the business requirements to be met by the Company
17. Carry out your duties and your responsibilities in a manner that ensures that the health and safety of you and your team is maintained and always in accordance with Company policies
18. Ensure the workshop is kept in a tidy and orderly state
