Based in Renmark North in South Australia, The Trustee For J & J Dreams is an established entity in the Farming Industry. They now seek for three full-time Skilled Horticultural Workers to join their team.
The Role
This is a full-time role with an annual salary set between $74,000 to $78,000, depending on experience with superannuation.
Responsibilities
Perform propagation activities including seed sowing, cutting and grafting and manage the planting and pruning of plants / tree
Prepare mix and apply pesticides to control pests and weeds
Oversee and perform irrigation, fertigation tasks and fumigation tasks
Keep accurate records of soil conditions, plant treatments and crop yields
Manage the transport and logistics of sales stock coordinating the timely and efficient delivery of crops to markets or customers
Operate and maintain horticultural machinery and equipment used in land clearing cultivation sowing harvesting processing and packing of crops
Conduct regular maintenance checks on all relevant horticultural equipment and machinery
Prepare and amend soil by testing ph levels adding organic matter and adjusting nutrient levels
Monitor and care for seedlings during the early stages of growth including watering thinning and transplanting
Manage and maintain environments including controlling temperature humidity and ventilation
Regularly inspect crops for signs of pests and diseases and take immediate corrective actions including manual removal and biological controls
Plan and schedule harvest operations determining the optimal time for picking
Implement post-harvest handling techniques such as sorting grading and packing
Develop and implement crop rotation plans to maintain soil fertility reduce pest and disease cycles and improve overall crop yields
Manage composting operations including the collection and processing of organic waste to create compost
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and safe handling procedures
Requirements
Relevant experience gained within a professional/commercial capacity to performed the aforementioned duties
At least 1 year of hands-on experience in plants maintenance and care
At least 1 year experience in plantation care techniques, including pruning, fertilization, and pest control
Applicant should be ready work in tough weather conditions such as Hot / Cold / Rainy climates
Expertise in plant identification, growth patterns, and biology within a commercial context
Physically fit and highly motivated with a strong work ethic
Comprehensive understanding and experience in managing safety in high-risk environments
Basic Horticulture/ Agriculture qualification preferred
Familiarity with relevant regulations, including Tree Protection Orders, environmental legislation, and native vegetation policies
Experience with operating Elevated Work Platforms or using rope and harness techniques for tree climbing
Capable of performing aerial tree inspections
Perferably should have current certifications in First Aid, Chainsaw Operation, High-Risk Licence WP , and MR Licence
Able to pass drug and health screenings
