The Company
Center West Exports is a world class, processing, distribution and export business of fresh fruit and vegetables, predominately carrots grown at our own farms - Sun City Farms - north of Yanchep.
The Role
The focus of the role is to lead and manage a farm team and operations. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will have an engaged leadership style that encourages team work and direction.
The right candidate will have the ability to work with a highly renowned company and provide themselves with an excellent career in the horticultural industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sound knowledge of the horticultural industry
- In depth experience of farm management and crop water management - pivot and fixed
- Crop nutrition, production and quality
- General mechanical knowledge
-Experience operating farm machinery
- Manage and lead team to continually improve team culture, increase productivity and create and maintain a safe work environment
- Work with the Managing Director to develop long term initiatives for expansion of farm operations
- Identify risk to production and implement strategies to ensure production of crop is not compromised
- Liaising with Operations Manager regarding production requirements and product quality
About you:
- A qualification in Agronomy/Horticulture - Bachelor of Agriculture Science or equivalent is desirable, but not essential
- At least 5 years' relevant work experience
- Leadership and communication - demonstrable leadership of agricultural production centers including farm management, with the ability to communicate to senior managers
- Experience in vegetable crop growing
-Wide range irrigation experience and crop water management
- Chemcert certified
- Experience operating all forms of farm machinery
- Mechanical trade/skills will be a distinct advantage
