Outback Spirit Tours offers a range of unique adventure tours, desert safaris and luxury short stays across our beautiful country. Our adventures capture the very essence of Australia, from the rugged red cliffs of the Kimberley to the unspoiled natural wonder of Tasmania, we bring iconic experiences to life. We operate 9 lodges in some of the most remote, inaccessible and beautiful locations. Our team of guides, drivers, camp and operations staff are passionate about the outdoors and take pride in bringing our guests on the adventure of a lifetime.

Seven Spirit Bay is an iconic wilderness lodge located on the western side of Port Essington on the Cobourg Peninsula. It is only accessible by Outback Spirit boats or aircraft.

We are seeking a strong leader and motivated individual to manage our flagship lodge on a minimum 12 month contract.

This role will see you leading our team through the end of the 2024 touring and fishing seasons, carrying out maintenance in the off-season, and expertly leading your team through the entirety of the 2025 season.

The role will involve, but is not limited to:

  • Managing team members, inspiring a passion for quality and professionalism
  • Setting clear goals and expectations, ensuring team members are meeting targets and providing the team with regular feedback
  • Lead and train the new and existing team members to ensure the standards and quality of work is consistent
  • Actively working towards meeting the Net Promoter Scores (NPS)
  • Supporting the continuous improvements of our lodge operations through proactive communications to the Operations Manager/General Manager
  • Ensuring budgets are met and cost controlled across the lodge
  • Deliver the business’ guest-facing experience, from strategy through to delivery
  • Oversite of the food and beverage delivery, experience, and menu in conjunction with the Head Chef and the Kitchen team (this includes cost management, ordering, stock control and waste minimisation)
  • Drive a culture of safety, ensuring all incidents and hazards are reported and investigated in a timely manner
  • Complete all administrative tasks as required by the operations team
  • Take an active role in recruitment, inductions, and team member training
  • The off season duties will involve project management and liaising with various trades personnel

This is a live-in position in an extremely remote location. We provide flights to and from Seven Spirit Bay via Darwin and will ensure you have time-off and are able to go home while no tours are operating.

About You
You will have a passion to travel and a desire to experience working and living in a remote location with a love for sharing unique and iconic experiences. The ideal candidate will have:

  • The availability to work in a remote location for long periods of time
  • Pride in delivering exceptional standards of service, ensuring that guests leave us with memories that last a lifetime
  • You will be extremely hands on with experience working across all departments of the Lodge's operations (food and beverage, customer service, housekeeping and grounds/building maintenance)
  • A thorough understanding of utilities and equipment relating to generated power and bore water
  • Knowledge of general maintenance and ability to carry out basic physical labour
  • Previous experience managing a diverse team of people
  • Previous experience working remotely or with limited face to face support from your direct manager
  • Passion and enthusiasm for hospitality, travel, tourism and adventure
  • High levels of interpersonal and communications skills
  • 3-5 years’ experience in general hospitality management
  • The ability to think on your feet while delivering within set time frames

  • A Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate
  • Responsible Person Badge
  • Remote First Aid certification (must include CPR)
  • Food Safety Supervisor certificate
  • An MR (H endorsed) license
