Our focus is on delivering quality food made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, served with a touch of European flair.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our team at Balthazar Cafe. The successful candidate will play a key role in our kitchen, contributing to the creation of our European-inspired dishes, including breakfast items and Italian specialties. This role requires a culinary professional with a strong background in European cuisine, attention to detail, and a dedication to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and cook a variety of European-inspired dishes, including breakfast items and Italian specialties, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation.
Collaborate with the Head Chef and kitchen team to develop and refine menu offerings that align with the cafe’s European style.
Manage food preparation and ensure the timely delivery of dishes during service hours.
Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen workspace in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Monitor inventory levels, place orders for ingredients and supplies, and manage stock rotation to minimise waste.
Train and supervise junior kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to kitchen protocols and maintain high culinary standards.
Adapt to the evolving needs of the café, contributing to menu changes, special events, and seasonal offerings.
Uphold food safety and hygiene standards at all times, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
REQUIREMENTS:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
A minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Chef in a café or restaurant environment, preferably with experience in European cuisine.
Strong understanding of culinary techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards.
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Creativity and passion for creating high-quality dishes that meet the café’s European style.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse kitchen team.
A positive attitude, dedication to continuous improvement, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional dining experience.
