Your new role As a lawyer within the Specialist Legal and Litigation Division, you will provide critical legal advice and manage complex litigation and complaints. Your responsibilities will include responding to human rights commissions, managing litigation in various courts, drafting legal documents, and analysing evidence. Respond to complaints made to federal and state human rights commissions, representing the organisation in dispute resolution processes.
Manage litigation in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the courts, including court appearances.
Draft advice, correspondence, legal documents, and briefings for senior management
Collect and analyse evidence in litigated matters
Engage in additional projects and duties as directed.
What you'll need to succeed Your qualifications and skills will be pivotal to your success in this role. You will need to be admitted as an Australian Lawyer with an unrestricted practising certificate or obtain one within three months of starting. Your expertise in employment law, communication skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively will be essential.
Admission to practice as an Australian Lawyer with a current unrestricted practising certificate.
Experience in employment law, with additional knowledge of equal opportunity and OHS laws being advantageous.
Understanding of the organisation's operational environment and structure is beneficial.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to develop strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
Strong organisational and file management skills.
Effective time management and the ability to prioritise tasks under strict deadlines.
