S.P. McLean Engineering is an innovative manufacturer of high-quality stainless steel and carbon steel pressure equipment to the petro-chemical and mining industries. S.P. McLean also designs and manufactures bespoke equipment that supports their filter equipment. We are seeking a full-time senior CNC Machinist.
Salary offered is $90,000pa plus super.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to determine specifications to optimise the production of dies and tools for steel forming, bending and 3D analysis.
• Programming, setting up and managing a variety of CNC machines and other metal shaping machinery to produce parts, tools and jigs as per the drawings and specifications.
• Fitting fabricated metal parts into products and sub-assembling metal components to build machines and equipment.
• Checking fabricated and assembled metal components for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments.
• Verifying the conformance of finished workpiece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary.
• Utilising CNC software (CAD/CAM) for efficient and precise manufacturing processes and providing technical guidance and support to the team.
• Forming metal stock and castings to fine tolerances with machining tools to press, cut, grind and drill metal.
• Maintaining quality control measures for die and tool manufacturing processes.
• Diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance on machines and equipment.
Qualifications:
• Certificate IV in Engineering (Mechanical/Manufacturing) or equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience or equivalent training in a production machining environment
• Post trade experience with CNC programming/operating
• Proficient in 3D analysis tools and experience with CNC, CAD, CAM systems
• Experience in die and tool making for steel forming and bending processes
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
