The CEO (AUS) has the following key responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Management:
Lead and manage the Australian business and be a Director of the Board of the Australian and regional entities.
Develop a long-term strategy for the Australian business and manage the execution of the strategy, in line with Group.
Develop and execute the annual budget and business plans, ensuring alignment with Group strategy, and in accordance with the plans agreed with the ExCo.
Business Development:
1. Spearhead the development and implementation of effective growth strategies to take advantage of opportunities in the Australian and regional market.
2. Direct the local management team to create and implement plans to deliver on targets and ensure operational effectiveness and compliance (with particular focus on licensed activities, Retail and AFSL).
3. Maintain awareness of risks and changes in the external environment that could affect the organization and its growth ambitions.
Financial Leadership and Management:
Work with the Group Senior Vice President Finance to implement the financial capabilities and oversight required to deliver on the business requirements, and enable alignment with the Group financial policies, platform, and processes.
provide effective oversight of the capital funding and ongoing financial management of the Australian business.
develop annual forecasts of revenues, expenditures and financial and non-financial performance for approval by the Board.
People Leadership and Management:
Work with the Group Vice President Human Resources to implement and develop a people strategy that aligns with the Group business’ HR strategy, policies, platform, and processes.
own the Australian business’ Staff Engagement Plan to deliver on the Company’s staff engagement plan objectives.
build an engaged workforce with the appropriate mix of business knowledge, technical skills and competencies that enable the long-term delivery of the Company’s business plan.
External Stakeholder Leadership and Management:
Act as the Company’s senior representative in the region.
Ensure the business is compliant with all regulatory and legal obligations required by its operations and licenses.
Manage the business’ legal function and resource.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Relevant qualification required, an MBA with 20 + years of relevant experience in energy industry.
Has vision, perspective, judgement and commonsense and can therefore ‘get the picture quickly’ without the need for detailed knowledge of the situation.
Is conscientious, energetic, empowering and organizing and can therefore organize people and resources quickly and efficiently to deliver successful outcomes.
Can communicate, influence, demonstrate good interpersonal sensitivity and is therefore able to work with and through people effectively as a leader, team worker and/or subordinate.
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate a vision that inspires and motivates.
Knowledge of the IT/trading framework/sales set up experience are mandatory in a successful energy company.
Proven competence in the ability to plan and deliver budgets. • Strong business acumen, including industry, domain-specific knowledge.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate complex proposals to senior decision makers and external stakeholders.
