Purpose of Position
To attend to the care needs of residents in accordance with their care plan. This will be achieved by providing safe and effective direct nursing care in line with nursing best practice principles. This position is also responsible for assisting with the education of Care Service Employees in clinical matters as required. The position is accountable and responsible in ensuring compliance with SCC policies and procedures, relevant standards, relevant legislation and accepted industry practices.

Qualifications

- Registered Nurse (Division 1) with general registration
- Possession of Certificate III in Community Services (Aged Care) or equivalent
- Experience & Skills
- Experience in caring for older people
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the aspirations and needs of frail older people
- Ability to set and maintain high standards in the provision of quality care and support services
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to provide quality care and support to frail aged people
- Advanced verbal and written English communication skills
- Numeracy skills - reconciliations and statistics
Sound understanding of relevant State and Commonwealth legislation as it applies to Aged Care providers
