Role
The Quality Co-ordinator / Industrial Chemical Engineer, reporting directly into the National Quality and Technical Manager, plays a crucial role in ensuring the production of high-quality products by thoroughly inspecting materials, components, and finished goods during various stages of the manufacturing process. The primary responsibility is to support and enforce quality standards, identify defects or deviations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify the root cause and implement corrective actions. The Quality Co-ordinator / Industrial Chemical Engineer will contribute to the overall success of the manufacturing operations by maintaining a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
This role is part of the Quality and Technical team and does not have any direct reports.

Salary: Between $80,000 to $100,000.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of incoming raw materials, work-in-process and finished products.
• Perform various tests and measurements using precision tools and equipment to verify adherence to specifications and standards.
• Perform variables process testing during litho, screens and dry off-set printing (e.g. viscosity, pH, fountain solution, temperature, alcohol, etc.)
• Conduct physicochemical analysis on raw materials, in-process items and finished goods as required.
• Support all production departments with quality related issues and ensure all quality checks are performed during all stages of product manufacture.
• Lead continuous improvement projects for inks and coatings recovery
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
• Accurately document inspection results, deviations, and non-conformities.
• Maintain comprehensive records of quality control activities and generate quality alerts and reports for management review.
Root Cause Analysis:
• Collaborate with production teams to investigate and identify the root causes of quality issues.
• Raise claims against suppliers as applicable.
• Work closely with engineering and manufacturing personnel to implement corrective and preventive actions.
Calibration and Maintenance:
• Ensure that inspection equipment is regularly calibrated and properly maintained.
• Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or calibration issues.
Compliance and Standards:
• Stay informed about industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to quality control.
• Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with quality and safety regulations.
• Conduct internal audits for system, processes and GMP to ensure compliance to quality, safety and product / food safety management systems.

Communication:
• Effectively communicate quality-related information to relevant stakeholders.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to address quality concerns and implement improvements.
Training:
• Provide training to production personnel on quality standards, inspection techniques, and procedures.
• Support continuous learning and development initiatives within the quality control team.

The Successful Candidate
To be considered for this position, not only will you love working within a team environment and are flexible in your duties, but we also require:
• Bachelor degree in Chemical engineering or equivalent; additional technical education or certification in quality control is a plus.
• Proven experience in a quality control role within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of quality management principles and methodologies.
• Familiarity with precision measurement tools and testing equipment.
• Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Work effectively within a high speed, manufacturing environment.
• Organisational skills with proven ability to apply problem solving and decision-making skills within a production environment.
• Willingness to learn new processes and procedures.
• Proven ability to work both co-operatively and independently in a team environment.
• Good knowledge of occupational health and safety work practices and proven ability to operate in a food packaging manufacturing environment.
