About The Client
Victoria Outdoors Pty Ltd is an established bricklaying company located in Wollert in VIC.
They are now currently seeking an experienced Bricklayer with the right attitude to join their crew to work on residential, commercial and boutique projects.
The Role
You will have the opportunity to work within an established business, which will supply you with career progression opportunities in the long term. This is a full time position with annual salary set between $70,000 and $75,000 plus superannuation. The position will be based around various service sites in Sydney region.
The Responsibilities
Your overall responsibility would be to lay bricks, stone or similar materials to build residential and commercial chimneys and fireplaces, patios, walls and walkways.
Your tasks will consist of:
Examining construction blueprints and specifications to determine necessary materials, dimensions, and installation methods.
Assembling and disassembling restricted height scaffolding in compliance with safety standards.
Spreading layers of mortar to create a solid base and binder for blocks using trowels.
Arranging bricks in precise rows, patterns, and shapes, ensuring accurate mortar application between joints.
Setting blocks in mortar and removing any excess to achieve a clean finish.
Inspecting and confirming the vertical and horizontal alignment of structures.
Trimming, forming, and refining stones and bricks with machinery and manual tools, as well as adjusting bricks to accommodate irregular spaces
Performing repairs and maintenance on bricks, cement blocks, and related structures.
Designing and cutting monumental masonry pieces, including precise lettering.
Constructing walls using stone slabs and large masonry slab blocks.
Cutting, polishing, joining, and installing stone outside building.
Preparing base and bedding courses and laying segmental paving as required.
The Requirements:
To be considered for the position you must meet the following requirements:
Certificate III in Bricklaying
Minimum 2 years of work experience.
Ability to use initiative, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of current industry trends and culture.
Keen attention to detail.
Effective and efficient problem-solving skills.
Ability to mix well with others and satisfactorily carry out tasks in liaison with colleagues.
Ability to train others
Strong work ethic and ability to work autonomously
Proven track record of reliability - references required
Demonstrated knowledge of the best safe work practices
