The Recycling Assistant is responsible for daily DC waste management and operations, including; separation and disposal of cardboard, plastic, and foam, and general waste, with a continual focus on Safety, Quality, Sustainability and Team.
- Sorting plastic, cardboard, and foam waste.
- Breaking up plastic and foam waste components.
- Use of hand and power tools.
- Operating specialised machinery.
- Manual labouring; e.g. moving plastic waste while sorting.
- Palletising and wrapping/strapping plastic and foam ready for disposal collection.
- Cleaning and maintenance of factory areas.
- Notifying the DC/Warehouse Manager of any machinery faults or breakdowns.
- Alerting the DC/Warehouse Manager when cardboard auger is ¾ full to arrange collection.
- Advise the DC/Warehouse Manager when 4 plus pallets are palletised of plastic or foam, and ready for collection.
- Feeding separated waste into dedicated machinery.
- Ensure that all incidents/injuries, near misses, and hazards are reported in a timely manner to the DC/Warehouse Manager.
- Adhere to WH&S policies and procedures.
- Responsible for ensuring that all people on site at the DC follow all relevant Safe Working Practices (SWPs) in accordance with the National Safety Plan.
- Build positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
