Strategy & Precincts is a Group within the Department of Transport and Planning and is responsible for providing integrated transport planning that delivers, simple, safe connected journeys.
The Integrated Transport branch sits within Strategy & Precincts and has been established to work across DTP and Government to achieve integrated transport outcomes - integrating transport and land use planning, including integration across modes, regions and between DTP and other Agencies and Departments.

The Precincts Transport Advice branch provides transport planning advice for precincts, including priority and local precincts, in order to achieve coordinated networks and integrated transport and land use outcomes.

About the Role

The role of Advisor – Transport and Amenity Program will contribute to the Transport and Amenity Program’s (TAP) planning, delivery, governance and stakeholder relations to develop strategic transport advice and initiatives in-development between the Victorian Government and the City of Melbourne.
The TAP is a program of up to $100m of jointly-funded and approved projects that complement the central city area of Melbourne, with a key focus within North Melbourne, West Melbourne and Docklands, while having an interface with the West Gate Tunnel Project.
The role requires a candidate with strategic transport planning knowledge and skills with demonstrated experience developing and delivering projects that improve place and urban realm while also supporting transport network requirements.
The successful applicant will work effectively as a member of a team across state and local government and enjoy the opportunity for flexible working arrangements. The position will work closely with subject matter experts across the Department of Transport as well as with urban designers, engineers, planners and governance stakeholders from the City of Melbourne.

This is a full-time role classified as a VPS Grade 4 with a salary band of $91,418 - $103,725 plus superannuation.

Key Selection Criteria

• Transport and Precinct Planning – Provides sound modelling, data and gap analysis and network planning; Provides quantifiable data and performance indicators to solve complex transport and precinct problems and options assessment; Applies best practice principles and methods for moving people or goods by different modes, accounting for their respective costs and benefits
• Future Focus – Develops objectives that link to broader team and organisational objectives; Takes into account future aims and goals of the team and organisation in prioritising own and others' work. Integrates relevant technologies into own ways of working and supports others in this. Proactively stays up to date with best practice and leading developments relating to expertise and area of work
• Communicate with Impact – Prepares and delivers logical sequential and succinct presentations; Uses clear & concise language; Uses media appropriate to the audience and presents information to develop the understanding of the topic
• Stakeholder Management - Takes steps to add value for the client or stakeholder; Links people with other areas as appropriate; Monitors client and stakeholder satisfaction; Constructively deals with stakeholder issues

Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
• A relevant tertiary degree in civil engineering or equivalent engineering degree.
• Experience with program and project management delivery of transport projects
