About the role
Working within the Capital Projects team at Bluestone Mines Tasmania Joint Ventures’ Renison mine, the Underground Projects Specialist role will empower you to use your previous heavy industrial project management experience to deliver impactful outcomes and improvements for the business.

Collaborating with the other Project Specialists, the Mining Operations teams and reporting to the Manager Capital Projects, this role is ideal for someone with a demonstratable history of successfully delivering projects within a mining or heavy industrial setting.

You will be accountable for delivering a wide range of project across the underground operations, ensuring project delivery is done safely, on time, to budget and within the BMTJV Project Management System.

You will be involved in all stages of the project lifecycle, from initiation, development, execution and closeout. You will also be empowered to use your experience through continuous improvement of the Project Management System and to look for better ways of working. This role will interact with the Leadership Team and stakeholders from across the business.


Projects currently in execution and planning include the mine dewatering system upgrade, new primary ventilation fan installation, underground fibreoptic upgrade and underground workshop fitout.

It is a on a 5/2-4/3 or 8/6 roster based on the West Coast or drive in drive out to your home location. Other rosters and FIFO may be offered for the right candidate.

Core responsibilities
• Ensure that projects are undertaken safely, undertake proactive safety assurance of contractors and BMTJV personnel and demonstrate personnel commitment to working safely.
• Ensure that projects are delivered in line with the schedule and budget.
• Work within the BMTJV Project Management System and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assure that the requirements of the Contractor Management Procedures are implemented.
• Work proactively and collaboratively with stakeholders to define, develop and deliver project outcomes.

About you
You will have a tertiary education in an engineering discipline or equivalent, with a minimum of 8 years previous experience of delivering complex projects in mining, construction, heavy engineering or similar environments.

The role:

As part of a multidisciplinary mental health service delivering high quality mental health care and, in accordance with Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, the Psychiatrist:

Provides comprehensive general inpatient and community psychiatric services in Tasmania.
Acts as a consultant to mental health professionals and health service providers, including general practitioners and other agencies, regarding the assessment and management of individuals with mental health disorders.
Undertakes supervisory responsibilities with Registrars/Career Medical Officers, Resident Medical Officers and other medical staff as required/appropriate.

State-wide Mental Health Services (SMHS) is a leader and innovator for a unique corner of the health care industry. We provide a comprehensive suite of mental health services in adult, alcohol and drug, forensic, older persons, child and youth and correctional primary.

The SMHS Adult Mental Health Service South reforms have provided opportunities in services such as The Acute Care Team, Police, Ambulance and Clinical Early Response (PACER) and Hospital in the Home Teams. In partnership with the University of Tasmania, the Service has also established the Tasmanian Centre for Mental Health Service Innovation which is dedicated to helping enhance and improve mental health service offerings for children, young people, and adults across Tasmania. The Centre is being co-directed by Professor David Castle and Professor Brett McDermott and its activities will focus on workforce development, training and education, research and development, and policy and advocacy.

All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

Available roles for Staff Specialist – Psychiatrists in SMHS Adult Mental Health Service South, include the provision of services in:

Community-based Mental Health Services, including the Acute Care Stream (ACS), the Continuing Care Stream (CCS), Mental Health Hospital in the Home (MHHiTH) and a community inpatient facility (Peacock House).
The acute general adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit (MHIU) at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH).
The general adult Consultation-Liaison (CL) psychiatric service in the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) and other RHH areas, including the Emergency Department (ED) and the Mental Health Short Stay Unit (MHSSU).
Rehabilitation and extended care facilities: Millbrook Rise Centre (MRC) a 27 beds inpatient facility at New Norfolk and Tolosa Street Centre, which has 6 rehabilitation beds in the community.
Step-up and step-down facilities in the community.

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full time, day worker (with on-call) position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary: 

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $210,000 - $301,349 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation 

Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $291,472 -$301,349 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award

Salary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

Provision of a motor vehicle allowance of $28,389 per annum
Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum
Relocation and commencement support available up to $15,000 for approved appointees
Allowance in lieu of participating in private practice scheme 35% of base salary (if applicable)
Other allowances as applicable
Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty

Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)

It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. Staff employed against this SoD as a Visiting Medical Specialist will be employed in accordance with the Tasmanian Visiting Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Agreement and remunerated accordingly
