The Product Manager is the go-to person for everything to do with the product, with detailed understanding of the product features and benefits, where each product fits within a farm production system, understanding of the supply chain, process through customer care, manufacturing, printing, dispatch as well as the brand management team.
This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of products including planning and execution of product lifecycle management, forecasting, pricing, communication of changes and working with the marketing team to improve product messages that are delivered in communications.
Initially, this role will be responsible for products within the ALLFLEX range although the range of product may change.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities include, however not limited to:
Lead the product management for the range, liaising with technical & global colleagues to understand the portfolio R&D pipeline, and champion ongoing range improvements; lead the introduction of new product and product improvements, with cross functional colleague engagement; identify gaps and opportunities within the portfolio, and champion product enhancement ideas to suit local needs with local, regional, and global colleagues. Contribute as required to internal product evaluation forums.
Develop and execute product lifecycle management plans and actions and contribute to the development of company strategy in collaboration with the broader marketing team.
Lead the building of budget and inventory forecasts for the portfolio, and accurately forecast major variances in sales forecasts based on industry, environmental and customer knowledge, and sales team contribution to forecasting.
Work closely with production, demand planning and procurement operations to ensure supply continuity, effective inventory management, with a view to minimize stock obsolescence & destruction. Ensure supply constraints are clearly communicated internally and to customers.
Lead the pricing review of the portfolio with contribution from the sales team.
Lead development of product marketing messages to promote product benefits. Work with brand management, digital marketing, technical, sales and customer care to ensure messages are accurate are being communicated in a clear and effective manner and help develop marketing activities. At times this role will lead brand activation under direction of the marketing lead.
Understand the NLIS and understand and changing trends in traceability for Australia.
Conduct market research activities to help inform product strategies.
Plan, coordinate and participate in trade and consumer promotional events as required.
Remain abreast of marketing trends and innovations to maximize innovative product messaging techniques.
Spend time with sales and technical team members in field to gain customer insights.
What You Must have
Tertiary education in marketing, business or equivalent is essential.
Prior product marketing experience.
Experience managing large changing portfolios with significant numbers of UINs.
Experience in an agriculture business, a knowledge of animal farming systems or experience in an agricultural business is highly desirable.
Strong analytical skills required with proven experience evaluating portfolios and preparing business recommendations and strategies.
Demonstrated experience developing and using market research and data to build marketing insights and develop product messaging.
Experience engaging industry bodies, key opinion leaders and influencers to develop brand campaigns.
Demonstrated experience developing and launching new products and market leading brands.
Able to collaborate with other departments in a team setting demonstrating leadership competencies.
Self-starter with initiative who works well in a team but with minimal supervision.
Project management skills to initiate and complete multiple projects as required.
A growth mindset looking for new ways of working to improve outcomes.
