What we are looking for

A Senior Full-Stack Engineer who will help build both a consumer facing React Native app, and the backing service, that gives Australians a better, more sustainable way to get receipts. You will also contribute to our backend services that support direct integrations into merchant and financial institution apps, including Kmart, Country Road and the big 4 Australian banks.   

We are looking for a senior full-stack engineer who can design, develop, and deploy scalable and reliable web applications using AWS services, Kubernetes, TypeScript and React. You will be working with a team of talented engineers who are passionate about building innovative solutions for our clients.  

This role requires the candidate to be based in Sydney, NSW. Candidates who are not located near or in Sydney will not be considered.

What does a normal day look like?

• Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure cloud services using AWS resources such as Kubernetes, API Gateway, Lambda, Kinesis, RDS, Dynamo and S3.  
• Design and implement frontend features for web and mobile using technologies such as using React, React Native, TypeScript, HTML and CSS.  
• Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver high-quality products and user experiences.

Essential Criteria: 

• At least 4 years of experience in a similar software engineering role  
• A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience  
• Proficient in TypeScript, NodeJS and either React or React Native, and willing to learn new frameworks and technologies as you contribute to a broad set of services and apps

The Opportunity:

The Systems Engineer (EWIS-L SPO) will assist the Land 154 projects as required to plan, acquire, integrate and transition the Mission Systems into service and onto sustainment. You will provide Systems Engineering support for acquisition, sustainment and disposal of FPECM, CIED and other Electronics Warfare (EW) systems, and if required and workload permits, the Systems Engineer may be tasked by the Program Manager to assist other Counter Improvised Explosive Device projects. You shall work collaboratively and independently on a range of engineering and Project tasks both within the engineering team and the wider Project team.

The Systems Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager within the Project and/or the Program’s Senior Engineering Manager.

Electromagnetic Warfare and Intelligence Systems – Land Systems Program Office (EWIS-L SPO) employs a robust Engineering Management System (EMS) to progress these materiel systems through acquisition, sustainment and disposal.

Responsibilities

• Requirements derivation, adherence and management, including meetings, working groups, Mandated System Reviews (MSR) and Capability acceptance.
• Operate within the Organisation’s One Defence Capability System and SPO’s Engineering Management System, maintaining a high standard of activities and outputs.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential:

• Current NV1 (mandatory) with the ability to obtain/maintain tup to NV2.
• Current (or ability to immediately gain) Technical Proficiency Level 4 (An individual who holds an accredited or recognised four-year engineering degree and has completed a minimum of three years engineering work experience after completing the degree).
• Demonstrated Engineering qualifications and experience (preferably Electrical, Electronics, Communications, or Radio Frequency, but Systems, Mechatronics and Mechanical will also be considered,).
• Demonstrated recent systems engineering experience in Defence projects within the One Defence Capability System, including relevant experience in the Defence Joint or Land Domain within the past 5 years.
• Well-developed communication skills, oral and written.

Desirable:

• Technical Proficiency Level Three (Be a Chartered Professional Engineer through Engineers Australia, registered on the National Engineering Register.)
• Demonstrated experience in the Engineering discipline, including the planning, scoping, budgeting and forecasting of tasks, activities and deliverables within the Project, and the ability to work in a distributed team across a varied workforce and environment.

The Opportunity

This role is a Systems Engineering – Mechanical role supporting Land Engineering Agency (LEA) providing engineering services to Commercial and General Service Vehicle Systems Project Office (CGSVSPO), in delivery of Vehicle Fleet Sustainment support. The Role

The Lead Power Systems Engineer will play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that ‘bring ideas to life’ for our clients across all types of energy infrastructure. This includes modelling and performance assessment of renewable energy zones, onshore and offshore wind farms, solar farms, battery energy storage systems and synchronous condensers, network planning for transmission and distribution systems, commercial research and development activities, and providing technical advice to a wide range of national and international stakeholders including network owners, system operators, developers, original equipment manufacturers, governments and regulatory and financial institutions.

What Will You Do?

• Lead and develop a team of Power Systems Engineers to deliver superior project outcomes for clients
• Undertake power systems studies, including grid-connection, network planning, system strength impact assessment and research and development.
• Develop wide-area network and individual equipment models in a range of simulation tools and in particular PSS®E and PSCAD/EMTDC
• Perform harmonic assessment and harmonic filter design studies
• Conduct control system tuning of inverter-based resources including both the grid-forming and grid-following inverters.
• Prepare grid connection application documents and technical reports
• Interface with a wide range of clients and other industry organisations, including developers, original equipment manufacturers, network services providers, AEMO and international clients.
• Undertake generator performance standards compliance testing, model validation (R2) testing, and generator registration with AEMO, including liaising with site-based personnel during onsite commissioning.
• Develop technical solutions to complex network and connection issues.
• Provide project management and support across a range of projects.
• Advise our clients on the planning, design and optimisation of current and future networks, power generation including storage, and control system solutions for transmission and distribution systems.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards, to maintain a high-quality outcome.

What We Are Looking For
 

• You will be degree qualified in Electrical Engineering at a minimum with any relevant additional post-graduate study highly regarded
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering and of power systems theory relating to electricity transmission, distribution and generation and associated control and protection principles will be required for this role.
• Experience in power system modelling tools in particular with PSCAD and PSS/E will support your success in this role.
• Site and practical experience in a relevant area are also a plus for this role as is experience in power system model development, coding, scripting and automation, and experience in dynamic modelling using PowerFactory.

You will be responsible for delivering and maintaining infrastructure systems for a number of Symbio business segments as well as uplifting our existing core tech stack. The Opportunity:

Under broad supervision this position is responsible for the provision of specialist engineering services related to marine/mechanical engineering in the support of the material remediation of the configuration baseline of the ACSSPO.

Responsibilities

• Investigate shortcomings in design, materials and system performance against contract specifications and participate in the development of solutions to resolve the problems.
• Review and comment on engineering changes, including supporting ILS documentation.
• Liaise with multiple stakeholders including ACSSPO staff, LHD ship’s staff, the In-service Support Contractor (Navantia), OEMs and Lloyd’s Register in the course of your duties.

About the Role

As Senior Systems Engineer - Linux, your role is to manage and maintain the Linux/Unix server environment and to provide proactive and reactive support services. The managed services team(s) are engaged by our customers to maintain the availability and reliability of a their core infrastructure. You will be using Automation tools such as Ansible on a day-to-day basis and may be required to assist customers with Application rollouts via Ansible at times.

In conjunction with the rest of the Managed Services team, you will be accountable for the timely action of customer service requests, within agreed service levels, whilst maintaining accurate and timely updates to technical documentation and ticket notes. You will also be required to operate under the guidelines of defined processes and procedures and are expected to ensure effective and professional communication with all relevant parties.

What you’ll do

As Senior Systems Engineer - Linux, you will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

• Use Ansible to perform day to day activities
• Use & modify existing Ansible playbooks to perform Application rollouts in customer environments
• Meet client SLAs for system availability, uptime and reliability
• Proactively manage and monitor the system environment for continuing business support
• Perform role responsibilities and duties during business hours, with occasional after-hours and on-call as required
• Perform regular Project Services work and work at a Design/Architecture level.

What You’ll Bring

You will bring at least three years’ experience in a complex, corporate, multi-server IT environment. You will have strong knowledge of RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 & 8 or similar flavour of Linux such as Ubuntu, Centos, etc. Along with extensive experience configuring and deploying servers, developing scripts to automate server builds and supporting systems infrastructure (systems, storage, networks, virtualisation platforms etc). You will be comfortable using Ansible in day-to-day operations tasks. Plus, you will have experience with sever security initiatives and have supported Virtual Server Environments.

You will possess exceptional customer, problem-solving and technical documentation skills, and be a team-player. Other skills you possess or technologies that you will have worked with include:

About the role

We are seeking an MED 2 or MED 3-qualified Engineer with aspirations to become a Vessel Master, to join us in a permanent position. Initially joining in a part-time capacity, we will support this individual to complete their Master <24m qualification throughout the 2024 year, to set you up for a full-time, permanent Vessel Master position with Darwin Harbour Cruises.

During our season which runs from February to December, this role will be based at Stokes Hill Wharf on a rotating roster. During the off-season, this role can enjoy time off or be considered to gain further experience at one of our other Journey Beyond businesses across Australia.

Reporting to the Vessel Master, this position assists in the maintenance and upkeep of the Charles Darwin vessel, including:

• Performing routine vessel maintenance and repairs to ensure continuous and reliable operation
• Conducting inspections, troubleshooting issues, and diagnosing any problems that may arise in vessel mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Assisting in major repairs and overhauls, collaborating with contractors and suppliers as necessary
• Playing an active role in implementing preventative maintenance programs to maximise vessel performance and minimise downtime
• Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities through a digital asset management system, including logs, reports and documentation of all work performed
• Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards and procedures governing marine maintenance and safety, in addition to adherence with Company SOPs and operational procedures
• Working as part of a team, the Engineer also supports with hospitality duties to support the front of house team where required.

About you

The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail and take pride in your work. You are a team player, while also able to work autonomously using your initiative and demonstrated problem solving skills. You will have a proactive and solutions focused approach with a ‘can-do’ attitude to achieve the best outcome for business operations.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• An AMSA-issued MED 3 minimum (MED 2 advantageous)
• Experience as a Marine Engineer preferably in the marine tourism industry
• A valid First Aid & CPR certificate, or willingness to obtain
• A valid RSA certificate, or willingness to obtain

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform due diligence of vetted aged care providers:
  • Manage and maintain the process for conducting due diligence of providers that Care & Living with Mercer will recommend to customers, including updating the due diligence spreadsheet and input fields as required
  • Manage and maintain the database of vetted providers and their associated status (recommend, do not recommend, on hold)
  • Work in partnership with the Care Consultant team to initiate provider due diligence when required for customers and update provider due diligence records when Care Consultants have new information, based on interaction with providers
  • Build relationships with providers’ contacts to build and develop the knowledge, brand and trust of Care & Living with Mercer with these contacts
• Information library: Maintain correct and up-to-date content of the Information Library with changes provided by DCM Media, as well as any changes requested by the Product & Operations Leader
• Customer Plan actions: Maintain the content of the Plan actions and related information based on changes requested by the Care Consultant Leader and Product & Operations Leader
• Periodic reporting: Collect required reporting data from Care Consultants and report in format required for other functions within Care & Living with Mercer, such as Client Growth Leader and Marketing Manager
• Periodically support completion of customer Plan reviews with Care Consultant team members
• Stay abreast on industry news and developments that may impact Care & Living with Mercer’s services
