SICE ANZ is currently embarking on exciting growth and we have a great opportunity for recent software and engineering graduates to join our team working on the West Gate Tunnel Project based in Footscray.

This is a unique entry level of opportunity. To be eligible you must have graduated within the last two years or are in your final year of tertiary studies. The ideal candidate will be able to learn quickly, work independently, and have excellent communication skills. This will be a 12-month fixed-term contract.

The position will be part of the testing team currently working on the delivery of the Operations Management and Control System (OMCS) and related ITS for the West Gate Tunnel project.

This role will involve:

• Design the test cases to ensure that software implementation is as per requirements
• Collaborating across development teams to ensure the design meets the technical requirements
• Execution of the nominated test cases
• Creating defects on the defect management system
• Working with the design and development team with a focus on defect resolution
• Supervise the completion of defects resolution
• Testing all aspects of SICE's delivery for the West Gate Tunnel Project and reporting defects
• Create and execute both manual and automated test cases and record their outcomes
• Review of technical documentation

The preferred candidate will meet the following requirements:

• Must have graduated in the last two years or be in final year of studies in a relevant field of engineering (Software, Electrical, Electronic, Computer Science).
• Knowledge and/or experience of PLC/SCADA systems architecture will be highly desirable and looked favourably upon.
• Programming skills in .NET, Python or Javascript.
• Strong MS Office Suite skills (especially in excel & word).
• Experience in test management software (desirable).
• Ability to work entirely on-site.
• Ability to work on a shared roster and shift-work upon request.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Our Quantexa Delivery team is all about contextualizing data. As a senior data engineer, you bring it all together. Working within a fast-paced team, you'll implement Quantexa’s innovative technology for an ever-expanding list of domains including banking, insurance, government, healthcare. From building an end-to-end data pipeline that uses our award-winning software, to configuring our decision-making platform to detect key insights, there’s always a new challenge around the corner.  

You’ll need to be a problem solver. The challenges we tackle are big, but they're also incredibly rewarding. Your contributions in managing, transforming, and cleansing high volume data help our clients solve business problems in areas including fraud, financial crime, data management, risk and customer intelligence.

What you’ll be doing.

• Writing defensive, fault tolerant and efficient code for production level data processing systems.
• Configuring and deploying Quantexa software using tools such as Spark, Hadoop, Scala, Elasticsearch, with our platform being hosted on both private and public virtual clouds, such as Google cloud, Microsoft Azure and Amazon.
• You’ll be a trusted source of knowledge for your clients. And you’ll articulate technical concepts to a non-technical audience so they can make key decisions.
• Collaborate with both our solution architects and our R&D engineers to champion solutions and standards for complex big data challenges. You proactively promote knowledge sharing and ensure best practice is followed.

What you’ll bring.

• You’ll have a background in hands-on technical development, with at least three years of industry experience in a data engineering role or equivalent, and preferably at least four years of software industry experience.
• Proficiency in Scala, java, python, or a programming language associated with data engineering. Our primary language is Scala, but don’t worry if that’s not currently your strongest language. We believe that strong engineering principles are universal and transferable.
• As an expert in building and deploying production level data processing batch systems, you’ll share an appreciation of what makes a high quality, operationally stable system and how to streamline all areas of development, release, and operations to achieve this. 
• Experience with a variety of modern development tooling (e.g. Git, Gradle, Nexus) and technologies supporting automation and DevOps (e.g. Jenkins, Docker and a little bit of good old Bash scripting). You’ll be familiar with developing within a version-controlled process that regularly makes use of these tools and technologies.
• A strong technical communication ability with demonstrable experience of working in rapidly changing client environments. 
• Knowledge of testing libraries of common programming languages (such as ScalaTest or equivalent). Importantly, you’ll know the difference between varying test types (unit test, integration test) and can cite specific examples of what they have written themselves.

What is this role about? 

The Support Engineer will, ensuring the availability, performance, and maintenance of mission critical systems. 

As a member of our DevOps Engineering team, you’ll be responsible for: 

• Taking ownership of the operational lifecycle, including incident, change, and problem management.  

• Proactively monitor systems, respond swiftly to incidents, and work to resolve underlying problems to prevent future occurrences, ensuring minimal service disruption and maximum uptime. 

• Providing 24 x 7 rostered on-call support where required by management. 

• Providing expertise and input into operational design and process.
