The Role

Reporting to the Group General Manager, People and Culture, the WHS Business Partner is responsible for the Groups WHS Management System with particular focus on consultation, audit, review, and process improvement. The WHS BP will be responsible for ensuring compliance with WHS Regulations, Compliance Codes and improving WHS standards across the TEG Group. This role will regularly review the WHS Management for effectiveness and continual improvement initiatives, provide advice and support on WHS policies, programs, and practices; and to ensure we continue to provide our employees with a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Review and audit workplaces to ensure high standard of compliance
• Deliver WHS related training programs and coordinate external WHS related training as needed.
• Lead Incident Investigations, including identification of Root Causes, and development of Corrective Action Strategies as required, in consultation with relevant business unit leaders (including Significant ‘Near Miss’ incidents)
• Liaise with Workers Compensation/Insurance Companies and manage Return to Work Programs for injured employees / contractors as required
• Liaise with management and WorkSafe regarding any Notifiable Incidents
• Provide monthly and quarterly reporting suitable for the Senior Leadership Team and the Board
• Work with Safety Contractors to ensure compliance with the Groups WHS Management system,
• Develop strategies to continue to drive a safety culture. 
• Monitor changes in the legislation across each jurisdiction the Company operates in and update policies and procedures as required. 
• Travel required at a minimum quarterly for a couple of days at a time. Further travel may be required to gain a good understand of the business. 

About You

• The Company has different workspaces including but not limited to offices, warehouse/workshop and venues so ideally the right candidate has operational  experience within a large organisation with multi-site requirements.
• Strong interpersonal and language skills (written & verbal)
• A demonstrable understanding of the risk management process and the practical application of WHS, Workers Compensation & other relevant legislative requirements
• A commitment to the maintenance and improvement of professional standards & knowledge within the WHS profession
• Cert IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent (Degree in WHS Highly Desirable)
• Cert IV in Training and Assessment (Highly Desirable)
• Return to Workers Coordinator certifications(Highly Desirable)
• Level 2 First Aid Qualifications
• Forklift License (Highly Desirable)
• Strong safety system knowledge and demonstrated auditing experience/competency
• The ability to collaborate with others, provide honest and constructive advice and demonstrate behaviours consistent with proactive lead safety standards

What You'll Do

This newly created role presents an amazing opportunity to build upon your solid knowledge of employment law and HR advisory support, with this position working end to end across the employment lifecycle. Responsibilities will be varied, and will include:

• Maintain and enhance our onboarding toolset to ensure high quality onboarding 
• Support the business with timely, accurate and practical reporting on all elements of the employee lifecycle built on reliable HRIS data including monthly reporting to the Executive
• Develops and enforces HR policies aligned with legal requirements and organisational strategy.
• Ensure all people policies and procedures are continually reviewed and aligned to bA Values and compliant with relevant legislation
• Develop collaborative partnerships with all leaders that are built on open communication and transparency
• Establishes the process for conducting annual or quarterly performance reviews, including timelines, guidelines, and tools (such as evaluation forms, software, and review cycles). This process ensures that all employees are evaluated consistently and fairly.
• Promotes a continuous feedback culture, where performance is not only reviewed at the end of the year but on an ongoing basis. This allows for real-time adjustments, support, and development.
• Manages risk associated with employee relations, ensuring proper handling of grievances and disputes.
• Actively participate in the ongoing innovation of HR processes and activities to continuously improve service delivery and value add to the business
• Manages promotion and succession planning processes based on merit and performance data.

What You'll Need to be Successful

To excel in this role, you will demonstrate previous experience working in a HR role, being exceptionally skilled at managing employee life-cycle activities and processes with a high-level of accuracy and be comfortable at interpreting policies, procedures and to provide sound advice to employees and People Leaders. You will be customer centric by nature, highly organised, adaptable and comfortable working with ambiguity.  Ideally, we are seeking:

• Previous experience (5+ years as a guide) in an HR position
• Demonstrated knowledge of Australian employment legislation and practices
• High level attention to detail
• Drive and ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced, fluid environment
• Ability to liaise and communicate confidently with employees across the business
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism with sensitive information
• Work well within a team environment, but also capable of working independently to progress workloads and priorities
• Any prior experience working within an IT organisation would be an advantage but not mandatory
