The Role

Reporting to the Group General Manager, People and Culture, the WHS Business Partner is responsible for the Groups WHS Management System with particular focus on consultation, audit, review, and process improvement. The WHS BP will be responsible for ensuring compliance with WHS Regulations, Compliance Codes and improving WHS standards across the TEG Group. This role will regularly review the WHS Management for effectiveness and continual improvement initiatives, provide advice and support on WHS policies, programs, and practices; and to ensure we continue to provide our employees with a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review and audit workplaces to ensure high standard of compliance
  • Deliver WHS related training programs and coordinate external WHS related training as needed.
  • Lead Incident Investigations, including identification of Root Causes, and development of Corrective Action Strategies as required, in consultation with relevant business unit leaders (including Significant ‘Near Miss’ incidents)
  • Liaise with Workers Compensation/Insurance Companies and manage Return to Work Programs for injured employees / contractors as required
  • Liaise with management and WorkSafe regarding any Notifiable Incidents
  • Provide monthly and quarterly reporting suitable for the Senior Leadership Team and the Board
  • Work with Safety Contractors to ensure compliance with the Groups WHS Management system,
  • Develop strategies to continue to drive a safety culture. 
  • Monitor changes in the legislation across each jurisdiction the Company operates in and update policies and procedures as required. 
  • Travel required at a minimum quarterly for a couple of days at a time. Further travel may be required to gain a good understand of the business. 

About You

  • The Company has different workspaces including but not limited to offices, warehouse/workshop and venues so ideally the right candidate has operational  experience within a large organisation with multi-site requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and language skills (written & verbal)
  • A demonstrable understanding of the risk management process and the practical application of WHS, Workers Compensation & other relevant legislative requirements
  • A commitment to the maintenance and improvement of professional standards & knowledge within the WHS profession
  • Cert IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent (Degree in WHS Highly Desirable)
  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment (Highly Desirable)
  • Return to Workers Coordinator certifications(Highly Desirable)
  • Level 2 First Aid Qualifications
  • Forklift License (Highly Desirable)
  • Strong safety system knowledge and demonstrated auditing experience/competency
  • The ability to collaborate with others, provide honest and constructive advice and demonstrate behaviours consistent with proactive lead safety standards
