About the Role (your why)

Working as a Desktop Support Engineer you will be responsible for the provision of all aspects of End User Services to Datacom’s customers. Aligned to our customers business requirements, we provide tailored maintenance services, hardware and software break/ fix support, remote support, software deployment and relocation services.

This role will be based in Adelaide and require Australian Citizenship due to customer requirements.

As a Desktop Support Engineer, you will be accountable for, but not limited to:

• Providing excellent technical support in a high-paced environment where customer satisfaction is paramount.
• Assisting new users with their IT hardware collection and setup.
• Ensuring new equipment, such as Laptops and Mobile phones, are up to date and deployment ready prior to release to customers
• Recording all customer contacts in the appropriate ITSM tool
• Keeping commitments to customers with regard to progress updates
• Using tools and processes to deliver services to customers in accordance with SLAs
• Proactively manage and maintain customer infrastructure as directed
• Initiate and drive service and process improvement
• Follow best practice methodologies and adhere to recognised ITIL processes (EG: Change/release)

What will a day in this role look like:

• As a Principal Engineer within the team, you will be in involved in managing and delivering local and national projects throughout the whole lifecycle – from front end strategy and planning, to detailed design and delivery.
• Assist in the delivery of projects, across a variety of market sectors, communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Be responsible for mentoring and guiding junior engineers, designers and drafters whilst collaborating across engineering disciplines and groups within AECOM.
• Utilise your extensive Civil Engineering experience to contribute to designs and delivery of projects across a variety of markets.
• Be responsible and accountable for the projects you are working on whilst operating in a client-facing position to enhance AECOM’s presence with existing and new clients. Ensure that quality assurance processes are followed and that projects are delivered on time, on budget and to a high standard.

Duties:

·       BMS engineering and design (systems/points schedules, functional descriptions, drawings etc). 

·       Liaising with IEC (JCI Global Engineering Centre) for the delivery of remote engineering. 

·       Coordination of localised engineering resources including working with the Victorian Engineering Team.

·       Coordination and support of on-site commissioning resources. 

·       Coordination of installation subcontractors.

·       Coordination of final witness testing/hand over of building automation systems for commercial and retail properties.

Skills:

·       A strong background in Building Automation Systems and their overall design intent.

·       Be able to understand and interpret the design intent around qualified specification and drawings.

·       General understanding/basic principles of IT networks.

·       Competent computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Project, Visio. BIM and AutoCAD skills would be an advantage to the applicant.

·       Standardizing of the deliverables including software, points list, documentation etc.

About the Role

As Systems Engineer - Linux, your role is to manage and maintain the Linux/Unix server environment and to provide proactive and reactive support services. The managed services team(s) are engaged by our customers to maintain the availability and reliability of a their core infrastructure. You will be using Automation tools such as Ansible on a day-to-day basis and may be required to assist customers with Application rollouts via Ansible at times.

In conjunction with the rest of the Managed Services team, you will be accountable for the timely action of customer service requests, within agreed service levels, whilst maintaining accurate and timely updates to technical documentation and ticket notes. You will also be required to operate under the guidelines of defined processes and procedures and are expected to ensure effective and professional communication with all relevant parties.

What you’ll do

As Systems Engineer - Linux, you will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

• Use Ansible to perform day to day activities
• Use & modify existing Ansible playbooks to perform Application rollouts in customer environments

Position:  Operations Engineer

About the Role (Your Why)  

Datacom operations are seeking an Operations Centre Engineer whose role is to monitor systems including Windows, UNIX, Database, Cloud and backups in real-time on a 24x7x365 rotational basis and able to troubleshoot/triage/resolve events or escalating to specialist’s teams for resolution. You will receive a standby allowance for when offshift and when called in to cover, all hours are considered overtime. There is a shift allowance of 12.5% on all working hours too so that standard pay is as uniform as possible, regardless of if you are day or night shift.

It is essentially just above an entry-level role, so don't let the title scare you off! We do still need people with IT experience - the role is perfect for those who have done service desk or desktop engineering work - but note that this is still an associate level position. It is seen as a transitionary role and a great stepping stone to get into higher level IT roles, as has happened with many of our staff since the teams' inception 4 years ago. After working in this role, you should be able to handle the business critical tasks and changes while you have time to focus on any certifications you are interested in. You can really showcase your skills ihere and be involved with the technologies that you want to be involved with, initially at a lower level but you can steadily increase your utilisation of other, higher technologies as you grow and develop.

Our offices are based in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. This role requires Australian Citizenship and you must be able to obtain a minimum Baseline Security Clearance and is available across most of our AU offices except for WA due to the time difference being difficult to roster; Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane and Adelaide are all places we have a Datacom offices where you can work from! Note that the majority of the work will be from home though and you may be in the office as little as once per month!
