The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
You will be responsible for daily food preparations and duties assigned by the Executive Chef to meet the set food safety standards and practices;
Prepare appropriate food quantities for the daily service;
Assist food production in the different sections of the kitchen, teppanyaki and sushi counter;
Follow the instructions and recommendations from the Executive Chef to complete daily tasks;
Ensure the highest food quality standards and consistent quality in the daily preparations;
Keep up to date with new products, recipes and preparation techniques;
Coordinate and participate with other kitchen sections in cleanliness, wastage and cost control;
Consult with Executive Chef and Restaurant Manager on daily restaurant requirements, functions and last minute events;
Assist with maintaining an organised and efficient flow of production, with regards to changes in forecasts and menus and;
Create unique dishes that inspire guests to return again and again.

The successful applicant must have:
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant and proven work experience in a similar role and environment;
Ability to lead a kitchen section;
Able to work day and/ or night shifts, including weekends;
Have exceptional organisational skills, food safety supervisors course, and quality control measures;
Be genuine, enthusiastic and hardworking.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to enrich our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in menu planning, preparation, and presentation of our dishes, ensuring each meal reflects the authentic flavors of Indian cuisine.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and cook Indian meals according to the menu and restaurant standards.
• Plan and innovate menus considering the unique offerings of our restaurant, manage food and labor costs effectively, and oversee the procurement of fresh, quality ingredients.
• Ensure that all ingredients used in the kitchen are fresh and of high quality.
• Estimate food and labour costs accurately to aid in budget formulation and control.
• Collaborate closely with managers and other team members to address and resolve food preparation issues promptly and effectively.
• Ensure the highest standards of dish preparation from inception to presentation, continuously monitoring for consistency and excellence in flavor and presentation.
• Work closely with management and staff, including kitchen and waiting teams, to discuss culinary processes, share expertise in traditional Indian cooking techniques, and foster a collaborative work environment.
• Demonstrate culinary techniques to kitchen staff, provide guidance on cooking procedures, and contribute to the professional development of the team.
• Engage actively in the preparation and cooking of our menu items, focusing on authenticity and creative expression.
• Champion and uphold strict hygiene and safety regulations to ensure a safe dining and working environment.
• Participate in the selection and training of new kitchen staff, nurturing talent and ensuring adherence to restaurant standards.
• Implement appropriate methods for food preservation and storage, maximizing freshness and quality.

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 plus superannuation per annum

Experience Required: At least 2 years.

Education Required: AQF associate degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma in a relevant field.
