Electrical Engineer - Switchboard Designer/Project Manager

Hobart, Tasmania

$85,000 - $100,000 per year plus super

About the role

As an Electrical Switchboard Designer and Project Manager at Samco, you will play an essential role in the development of electrical switchboard solutions, in particular Design of LV/MV/HV Electrical systems including Main Switchboards, Motor Control Centres, Distribution Boards, PLC panels, control panels and outdoor enclosures. You will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and specifications to support the manufacturing. This is a permanent position 38 hours per week Monday to Friday.

Your duties and responsibilities
- Designing & Drafting of LV Electrical switchboards and LV & ELV Control Panels
- Ensuring all designs comply with relevant regulations and standards in particular AS61439
- Technical support & training to the wider business operations
- Creation of detailed manufacturing packages required for the execution of works on the shop floor, including,
o Electrical GA
o Single line drawings
o Schematics
o Inspection test plans (ITP’s)
o Factory Acceptance Testing plans (FAT)
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and control system issues promptly and effectively
- Completion of Temperature rise calculations as per AS60890

Skills and Qualifications:
- Tertiary Engineering qualifcation.
- Minimum 5 years local experience in electrical drafting particularly in the switchboard industry.
- Knowledge in electrical switchboards, control systems, motor control, power distribution electrical installations, and manufacturing
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Proficient use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office packages
- Working knowledge of all guidelines, Statutory and Regulatory and the new Australian Standard specification relevant to the design of switchboards
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels Willingness to work as directed
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic outlook Leadership experience and/or aspirations
- Possess excellent knowledge and experience with commonly used supplier equipment such as Siemens, ABB, Schneider and NHP.
- Proven experience with Solid works Electrical or AutoCAD Electrical
- Strong background in working with & marking up single line diagrams, I/O Cards, and PLC schematic diagrams
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in drafting
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
