The Gig

We’re searching for a Financial Accountant to join our team, supporting our Finance Manager and CFO with day-to-day accounting tasks, including month-end reconciliation and assistance with preparing monthly and year end financial statements. The role will collaborate closely with other members of the finance team on ad-hoc analysis and reporting to drive informed decision-making in our growing business, while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements during external audits.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee month-end and year-end close process including balance sheet,  profit & loss reconciliations and consolidation workings
• Prepare weekly cash flow reports and forecasts
• Review accounts payable payments and employee calculations including payroll accruals
• Manage fixed asset register, R&D timesheet records, and provide finance team training and backup support
• Assist with monthly and annual financial reporting requirements, tax return workings, and BAS returns
• Assist senior leaders with financial analysis, budgets, forecasts, and ad-hoc finance tasks
• Support external auditors and evaluate financial processes and systems.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field 
• CA or CPA qualified, or almost at completion

• Proficiency in accounting software systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with extracting and manipulating data stored in relational databases (for example, through the use of  SQL) will be viewed favourably 
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting and analysis
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams

In this broad reaching function and role, you will enjoy a variety of tasks covering both commercial and risk management, including specific support to the Tendering process where your experience and interpretation of client-issued legal and contractual terms, will mitigate risk with proposed qualifications and subsequent negotiations. • A tertiary qualification in law, procurement, business management or engineering.
