Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
We are looking for a Design Operation Lead who will help support Canva’s International team comprised of all our locale teams globally.
Sitting in the Design Operations specialty of the Content Creative group, effective project management and well-rounded communication skills are key expectations of this role. The ability to navigate complexity, turning chaos into clarity, will need to be exemplified through project plans, roadmaps, and regular team cadences. Engaging with stakeholders, vendors, & team members form part of this role & will be vital in enabling the team to achieve its goals.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
- Manage the operational structures & processes to ensure we are considering international production holistically
- Strategise across all available production levers to deliver on goals with the most efficient, effective resources
Foster Collaboration and alignment: - Ensure team-wide alignment and operational excellence by partnering with international leadership team (Design Lead and Strategy Lead) and fostering collaboration with other Canva teams.
- Initiate operational ideas to enhance team efficiency, exploring new ways of working, platforms, and team structures.
Campaign oversight and ownership: - Oversee day-to-day running of international content campaigns in collaboration with the regional project managers and creative teams.
- Provide oversight and forecasting for resources, ensuring the team is prepared for success and scalability.
- Strategically manage budgets (alongside Strategy Lead), recommend production streams aligned with creative requirements, and collaborate with relevant teams to ensure our output is of the highest value.
- Communicate blockers, resourcing needs, and trade-offs with stakeholders as needed
Leadership on Priority Projects & Initiatives: - Take ownership of planning, resourcing, and delivery for unexpected, urgent, or complex requirements, coordinating with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with and support other operations team members, ensuring they deliver an exceptional Design Ops experience
Tooling - Experience with Monday.com and proficient with Google Sheets
You're probably a match if
- You have 10 + years of experience in a project management, design operations or account management role with experience managing multiple complex projects at once
- Proven track record of managing people and running large teams effectively
- Strong working knowledge of the creative process and superb organization skills, seeing projects through from planning to reporting
- You communicate with a focus on a unified mission, balancing immediate needs with long-term strategy for Canva's sustained success.
- Bonus points for experience in managing international teams or localization. Additional advantage if experienced in working remotely, across time-zones, locales, and languages.
- Advertising agency experience is ideal

Canva would not exist without content. Our templates, photos, fonts, stock media and more play a critical and pivotal role in empowering our users to design anything and publish anywhere. Content has far reaching business impact and is a key driver of user acquisition, retention and revenue
The Content Creative team’s mission is to build the most valuable content library in the world to inspire our users to create their next design. We work collaboratively across the Content & Discovery group, and other groups to identify & implement opportunities to drive user engagement through content. This group will be focused on developing the world’s most inspiring and valuable library of photos, videos, animations, illustrations, graphics, fonts, and more. Working to ensure that our content is Truly Local, the Content Creative sub-group has a global remit to create and acquire the most relevant, high quality content from around the world.
