About Your Role: Field Service Technician - Submarines

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Field Service Technician to join the Scylla In Service Support Team maintaining and repairing complex Sensor Systems fitted to Collins class Submarines.

As a Field Service technician, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing state of the art equipment fitted to RAN ships, submarines, and land-based sites, ensuring optimal performance. Your key focus will be on supporting Thales equipment fitted to Collins Class Submarines under the ISS Contract.

Permanent opportunity and based on-site at Rockingham, WA.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• The successful and professional conduct of maintenance and / or repair tasks
• Leading the technical aspects of a maintenance task
• Communicating with Supervisors and Maintenance Managers, ensuring task progression and relevant issues are reported
• Develop documents & capture of information within information systems relating to the conduct of maintenance and/or repair activities
• Assisting the Inventory Management team to receipt, packaging and despatch GFE/CFE as required

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering Cert IV or equivalent or
• Cert IV in Information Technology (networking)
• Experience in fault finding including analysis and documentation of process and results.
• Previous experience working within a Defence or Defence Industry environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced skills in MS Office

• You independently operate, monitor, and maintain Plant systems, in the control room and onsite
• You are responsible for the processes, collaboration, and optimisation within the HZI Commissioning Team
• You supervise and train the client's shift personnel and works performed by them or suppliers
• You update and maintain shift logs and maintenance regimes
• You ensure that works within your area of responsibility are executed according the contract and project time requirements
• You prepare and issue Permits to Work and system isolations for works within the shift
• You ensure full HSEQ compliance and incorporation of guidelines, and work closely with the HSE team
• You report any variations and issues to the Commissioning Manager

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• You lead the commissioning activities of the boiler and combustion elements for HZI and ensure works are executed in accordance with contract requirements, and conform with the approved drawings and standards, project time and budget
• You supervise and check the commissioning works being performed by the contractor in respect of timescales, HSEQ and compliance with the approved drawings and standards
• You lead by example regarding HSEQ;  actively encouraging and leading the HZI and contractor teams to implement and comply with project HSEQ requirements
• You are responsible for the safety and HSE performance of all personnel under your supervision, eliminating / mitigating hazards, stopping works where HSE instructions might be compromised
• You liaise and coordinate with all relevant stakeholders (project team members, commissioning manager, erection supervisors, HSE, commercial counterparts, engineering, sub-contractors, suppliers etc.)
• You ensure sub-contractors are co-ordinated with other site works, material and all other requirements are in place in order for them to efficiently perform required tasks.
• You complete required tests on site as required by the functional description of the plant and or equipment
• Interface with 3rd parties and external bodies as necessary
