TerraCom Limited is an ASX listed mid-tier resource company with operating mines in Australia and South Africa, along with a number of exciting green & brownfield development projects within those regions and emerging projects in Africa. Our strategy is to build a global portfolio of operations.
TerraCom own and operate the Blair Athol Coal Mine, located near Clermont, Central Queensland. This open cut thermal coal operation consists of a full suite of mining activities inclusive of dragline, truck and excavator, dozer push, mine site rehabilitation, coal processing, coal crushing, product haulage and train load out activities. Our current clean coal production output is 2.2Mtpa with a mine life in excess of 8 years.
The Blair Athol Coal mine is located 24km north-west of the family friendly township of Clermont in Central Queensland, 120 km north-west of Emerald and 275km south-west of Mackay.

The Role
An opportunity has become available for a mining engineer to join our team at Blair Athol. The mining engineer is accountable for providing technical support such as designs, short term planning, scheduling, and monitoring of mining performance of our excavator, dragline and dozer push fleet.
Responsibilities of the Role:
1. Ensure that all excavation and dump plans / designs conform to Blair Athol’s Health and Safety Management System.
2. Provide inputs such as designs and volumes into the mine planning and scheduling process.
3. Ensure safe, efficient, and productive plans are developed in a timely manner through the liaison with supervisors, superintendents, and other engineers in the planning process well before plans are due.
4. Ensure production budget is met by effective planning, scheduling and coordination of activities relating to the mining fleet.
5. Maintain and communicate short terms plans and activities to managers, superintendents, and other relevant mine site personnel.
6. Ensure mining fleet is productive and working safely by conducting tours through the circuits with relevant supervisors/superintendents, monitoring conditions and altering plans/schedules as required.
7. Ensure waste dumps consider rehabilitation requirements during the design stage, ensuring effective controls are in place.
8. Ensure effective controls are in place so dig/dump designs are followed, by working with the surveyor and ensuring GPS plans are available for diggers & dozers
Skills and Experience:
1. Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or similar
2. RIICOM301D – Communicate Information or equivalent (desirable)
3. RIIOHS301D – Conduct Health and Safety Investigations or equivalent (desirable)
4. RIIRIS301D – Apply Risk Management Processes or equivalent (desirable)
5. Current Drivers Licence
6. Right to work within Australia
7. Willing to complete a Pre-employment Medical
