Task & Responsibilities Job Description: We are looking for a full Mechanical Product Design Engineer with Southern Commercial Divers working a minmum 38 hours per week piad 80k to 90k PA: Requirements and duties Engineering Design: Contribute to the design and development of bespoke robotic technologies for underwater cleaning and inspection of potable water infrastructure, emphasizing sustainability, durability, and efficiency. Project Facilitation: Collaborate with dive crews to enable a clear understanding and successful execution of engineering projects. Provide on-site and remote support as required. Project Planning and Execution: Plan and manage engineering projects, ensuring that timelines and resources align with operational needs and client expectations. Inspections and Reporting: Perform detailed inspections of assets, including bridges, fire services, and potable water systems. Provide thorough technical assessments and generate reports for internal and external stakeholders. Asset Management: Oversee maintenance and inspection protocols for essential infrastructure, maintaining a focus on safety, regulatory compliance, and performance optimization. Diving Responsibilities: In addition to engineering tasks, you will actively engage in commercial diving operations: Cleaning and Inspection: Participate in underwater cleaning and inspection projects for potable water assets. Environmental Diving and Salvage Operations: Execute environmental dives, mooring inspections, salvage tasks, pile wrapping and jacketing, and high-pressure water blasting. Ensure compliance with environmental standards in every operation. Qualification & Experience Skills required Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Offshore Engineering, or a related field with atleast 2 years of experience in the field or related. Atleast 5 years of experience will substitute for formal qualifications. Commercial diving certification (e.g., ADAS Part 3 or equivalent), with demonstrated experience in underwater inspections and maintenance. Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, ANSYS). Strong project management skills, with experience in planning, resource allocation, and reporting. Effective communication skills for facilitating project comprehension across teams, especially dive crews. Preferred Skills: Experience in robotic or underwater technologies for environmental and structural applications. Certification as a visual welding inspector (e.g., CSWIP). Familiarity with asset management, especially for infrastructure such as bridges, fire services, and potable water systems.
