As a Data Centre Fit-out Project Director, you will be responsible for managing and delivering projects across NEXTDC’s existing data centre portfolio. Within the Capital Works portfolio, the projects you will be leading will be a mix of base-building infrastructure capacity expansions, “white-space” provisioning for future data hall deployments, and customer fitouts. 

Your visionary mindset and exceptional project management skills will be crucial in delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination and successful project execution.  

What you’ll do: 

You will lead the delivery of multiple small to medium scale ($250k to $20m) project(s) within our data centres nationally and be responsible for ensuring successful project execution. You will also: 

• Manage project controls, issues and dependencies and ensure that appropriate governance and reporting structures are in place.  

• Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and optimisation of project outcomes.  

• Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement effective mitigation strategies.  

• Provide regular project updates and reports to senior management and stakeholders.  

• Drive a safety-first culture and ensure thorough and high quality safety management systems are deployed throughout the build, fitout, deployment, commissioning, handover and operational phases of the deliverables. 

As a Construction Project Manager you lead, manage and organize construction projects with a high level of professionalism and according to routines, company policies, guidelines and local legislation. You prepare and present budgets and business cases as well as follow-up on cost and suppliers to secure financial transparency. You drive tendering and contracting for your projects and coordinate design, execution and logistics for your projects. Through strong teamwork and clear communication, you secure that relevant stakeholders receive needed information on time. 

Key responsibilities:

• Secure value engineering and value planning on each step of the project process
• Secure that contractors and partners are working in line with the Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct and Business Partner sustainability commitment
• Organize regular meetings with business partners & reinforce the importance of our policies and overall expectations
• Secure that the stores are built in line with the general/local building specifications, instructions & interior specifications and with sustainability front of mind with everything that you do
• Secure that Health & Safety requirements are in place and followed
• Secure that forecasted figures are matching actuals & final invoicing of projects in IPS 
• Run projects in line with routines and secure financial transparency for all projects
• Keep project budget within forecasted figures and challenge variations if they occur
• Review contracts and secure that project/country specific risks are covered; secure that execution and payments schedules are attached and that the contracts are signed according to approval rights
• Ensure that the stores are designed & built in line with the general/local building specification, guidelines & interior specifications 
• Follow up on the construction process and secure deadlines & quality standards
• Liaise with consultants and authorities in order to receive all necessary permits

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for:

• Assisting with the operational delivery of projects in line with client and contractual requirements; program and procedures; and all relevant legislation.
• Working with Project Managers & Senior Project Managers to provide superior team performance for clients in all aspects of project delivery including scope, time, cost and profitability, quality, human resources, communications, risk management, health, safety and environment and procurement.
• Contributing to the project process particularly in relation to methodology, tendering, processing of payments, consultant management and site activities.
• Assisting in the development and maintenance of superior client and key stakeholder relationships.
• Assisting in meetings and minuting meetings as required.
• Completing system documents and procedures to ensure that the business is not at risk of non-compliance with third party accreditations.
• Risk and Opportunities are tracked with the project team.
