Position: Production Engineer

Salary: $90,000 plus superannuation
POSITION CONTEXT & OBJECTIVES
North South Carpentry & Joinery has approximately forty-five staff, a combination of office and field staff. North South is an innovative carpentry and joinery company specialising in delivering high-end commercial and residential projects in NSW, Australia. We are currently expanding our operations into the Central Coast/Terrigal.
The Production Engineer position is within the operations department and reports directly to the Joinery Project Manager. The Production Engineer is to provide a high level of support to the Joinery Project Manager and the Joinery Manager through their high standards of work in performing their duties. Collaborating with other departments and those operating in the Head Office promptly and efficiently will also be required.
The Production Engineer is to work with the values and the mission of North South Carpentry in mind while providing efficient and effective support and results to their colleagues and the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
The Production Engineer is responsible and accountable for tasks including but not limited to;
• Undertake design project from concept to completion
• Define project requirements and the finishes schedule
• Creating Process Map and Approval Workflows using Aconex | Monday.com
• Plan the sequence of production, analysing resources and capacity available against deadlines using Microsoft SharePoint and Power Platforms (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate)
• Liaising with architects, builders, and clients to interpret design concepts and incorporate them into technical drawings
• Use Adobe Tools & AutoCAD to take the layout dimensions or coordinate a site measurement
• Design furniture and joinery items for residential houses and commercial buildings using Pytha 3D CAD software
• Propose design solutions and produce a set of shop drawings for the architects or clients
• Prepare approved joinery items for production based on engineering analysis processes involving sampling, tests, preparation of patterns and production programs
• Setup CNC machines (select carbides tools – shape, brand, feed speed, duration, and other specifications) along with suppliers
• Optimise the cut of the parts on boards using Cut Rite CAM software and program the CNC machines, select tool and drilling patterns using WoodWOP and Ezynest 5 CAM software or Alphacam
• Check materials and hardware in stock and order them for the project completion
• Handover instructions to the factory team on how to build the joinery concepts
• Coordinate multiple projects and deadlines
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• 7+ years of experience in the carpentry and joinery industry
• Experience in computer programs, such as the Microsoft suite
• Experience in CAD, Cubit or other measurement, pricing or drawing software or suite
• Experience in both residential and commercial carpentry construction and joinery manufacture
• A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
• Current drivers licence
SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
• Experience in AutoCAD, Adobe Tools or other measurement, pricing or drawing software or suite
• Understanding of the relevant technology, procedures, practices, acts, regulations and processes used within this position
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of the use of Microsoft Excel, PDF and other similar programs
• Excellent understanding of carpentry and joinery techniques and methods of installation and construction
• Ability to read technical documents and drawings
