Daily tasks and responsibilities:
• Obtain requirements from stakeholders through various requirement gathering sessions
• Assess capabilities of current system, identify gaps and implement solutions that are performant and cost effective
• Design, create and maintain solution consisting of data pipelines to serve data sets for the platform and business teams using industry best practises
• Drive conformance of projects/programs to data product engineering standards
• Identify, design, and implement process improvements such as: improving database performance, automating manual processes, optimising data delivery and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, reliability and maintainability among other things
• Refer existing documentation and technical specifications when developing solution
• Make solution production-ready by performing various forms of testing like Unit Testing, System Integration Testing, Data Reconciliation Testing to identify faults and correct them through various debugging practices
• Follow and implement standard industry practices throughout the lifecycle of the solution from development, deployment and through to production while working in an Agile environment
• Maintain solution on a source control on which continuous integration and deployment pipelines are developed for automating processes
• Document architecture, workflows, operational procedures and share with stakeholders and update them as required
• Leverage strong consulting skills to guide and instill strong product engineering practices and strategies by developing proposals that consider cost and existing technical know-how
• Actively partner with stakeholders to create engineering roadmaps and data product design and promote through the relevant channels
• Research, relate and recommend technical solutions and relevant software application tools, utilities, environments and languages
