We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Agricultural Consultant to join our Livestock Division to provide critical advice on Livestock, Nutrition / Breeding, Production Improvements, Processing and Distribution efficiencies across our JDE feedlots located in central Victoria, custom-feedlots in southern NSW and our dedicated breeder network across Australia.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
• Master of Agricultural Sciences (Agribusiness) / Bachelor of Agriculture (Animal Science) or equivalent.
• 4+years' experience in Beef Livestock Ecology, Animal Genetics, Feed Additives, Animal Reproduction & Breeding, Animal Nutrition, Feed Quality Evaluation and Safety Determination, Cattle Production and possess an Animal Welfare skillset.
• 4 + years experience in Livestock processing, Livestock Inventory control data management, Customer management, Transportation preparation and documentation and protocol compliance including;
• Site evaluation for feedlots and facilities, analysing environmental conditions that may affect animal performance and animal welfare such as transportation, location, cattle handling facilities, feeding systems.
• Advising feedlot managers and stockmen on techniques for improving the performance of cattle during transportation.
• Advising feedlot managers on treatments of animal diseases.
• Collecting and analysing data and samples of hay, feed, grain, soil and other factors affecting production
• Investigating, planning and implementing management procedures to cope with the effects of fires, floods, droughts, soil erosion, insect pests and diseases.
• Developing livestock backgrounding operations herd in various states to meet feedlot commitments.
• Short- and long-term feed supply strategies to include hay, silage, TMR (Total Mixed Ration), for feedlots and background operations.
• Have specialised knowledge of variety testing, statistical experimental design, field plot technique, statistical data analysis and interpretation, plus reporting is required.
• Skilled in working with of large datasets and statistical interpretation.
• Livestock Daily data processing and reconciliation of feedlot activities i.e. animal inductions/feed invoicing.
• Ensure traceability and performance records are updated and accurate throughout external and internal feedlots.
• JDE Feedlot production/forecast/administration produced weekly on time and in full.
• Maintain feedlot information, Purchases, Feed invoices, Cartage pricing, Induction and exit info and Mortalities.
• Maintain breeding herd information: Births, Valuations, Mortalities.
• EOM reconciliation, finalize and report to management with stock on hand/feed on hand and costings.
• On time communication and consultation with external cattle buyers and vendors, ensuring a high level of accuracy.
• Designing and executing field research projects with agronomy, Ag-Technology.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects to deliver specified goals.
• Innovative research demonstrated through past experience and track record.
• Demonstrated ability to execute projects within a project management framework.
• Ability to perform as part of a high-performing, expanding working team.
• Experience of working with and managing external vendors.
• Possess excellent communication skills, verbal and written; ability to productively interact with people at all levels across the organisation.
• Ability to day travel JDE farms/feedlots 20-30% of the time domestically.
For you:
Salary: $75,000 per annum plus Super.
