This role is integral to the efficient operation of the ALDI Safety Department. This is a rewarding role with a high degree of responsibility and autonomy, managing multiple stakeholders, and working in a fast-paced environment.

What does the role look like?

• Assist in the management of work-related injuries which includes the use of WHS IT systems
• Coordinate and provide guidance on Injury Management activities
• Liaise, consult, and meet with relevant stakeholders, e.g.: injured workers, treating practitioners, insurer, and regulator where applicable
• Actively manage your area of responsibility by using initiative, suggesting ways of improving systems for greater efficiency
• Provide implementation support for projects and managing ongoing business as usual (BAU)
• Ensure ALDI is compliant with all current legislative obligations and engaging in best practice injury management.

BlueScope Building Solutions is a part of BlueScope Building Components, a division of BlueScope in Australia, manufactures and markets steel building products, solutions, and services through its four leading brands: Lysaght, Fielders, Ranbuild and Kiteleys.

In this key role reporting to the Commercial Manager of our Buildings Solutions business, you'll be conducting a variety of financial and management accounting activities for the Ranbuild and Kiteleys businesses and recognised as a trusted business partner providing accurate, timely, forward-looking, and value-adding reporting, analysis, insights and advice that lead to improved business performance.

What Will You Do?

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders you will gain a deep knowledge of the business, analyse, identify, and deliver continual improvement in processes, knowledge, and business performance. To achieve this, you will:

• Ensure sound financial governance of BlueScope Building Solutions
• Ensure the timely and accurate preparation and reporting of periodic financial results, budgets and forecasts in accordance with timetables
• Provide accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking support
• Provide accurate and timely preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, and lead periodic stocktakes and internal control assessments
• Provide value-adding reporting, analysis, insights, and recommendations

More About You

As an experienced management accountant. You'll have:

• Relevant accounting degree and accounting qualification
• CPA/CA qualified
• Significant accounting experience in a commercial environment
• Commercial acumen and analytical ability including an enquiring and challenging mindset and the ability to think across a broad range of issues
• Demonstrated ability to proactively engage others, and to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

In this role you will support the development of a positive risk management culture at Hume City Council by assisting in the development and implementation of Risk Management initiatives, strategies and practices across the organisation to actively eliminate or minimise risk.

What you’ll be doing:

• Assist in the review and update of Council’s Risk Management Framework to ensure consistent application across Council which pro-actively reduce or mitigate Council’s risk exposure.
• Review and follow up departmental risk management incident notifications.
• Conduct risk reviews across the organisation to ensure the elimination or effective management of risk.
• Assist the Risk Management Lead to deliver of a comprehensive training program for management, staff and contractors to ensure they meet their risk management obligations.
• Maintain a Council wide Risk Register to assist managers in performing their risk management responsibilities including strategic and operational risks.
• Coordinate the maintenance and review of the Council Risk System incorporating Council’s corporate and departmental risk registers.
• Assist in ensuring awareness of Council’s Fraud Control Policy and Fraud Control Plan, and contribute to their review and update.
• Assist the Risk Management Lead to develop Council’s Legislative Compliance framework, monitor Council activities for compliance with relevant legislative requirements, and manage the review and update of the relevant documents and processes.
• Assist with coordination of internal audit activities.
• Assist Risk Management Lead with the preparation of reports to the Audit and Risk Committee and action or follow up items raised.
• Assist the Risk Management Lead to develop, implement, maintain and provide advice and guidance on business continuity plans for the organisation.
• Assist the Risk Management Lead in the annual renewal of Council’s insurance portfolio, including tender processing where relevant.
• Assist the Risk Management Lead undertake the periodic insurance audits conducted by Council’s major insurers and conduct follow up reviews of recommendation actions.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role: 

• Tertiary qualifications in a Risk Management or related discipline with relevant experience or less formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience.
• Experience risk management, including privacy and Freedom of Information.
• Demonstrated research and investigative skills and the preparation of reports and policies.
• Experience in auditing, insurance and business continuity.
• High level of written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and industry standards.
• Ability to review, interpret and advise upon contracts, agreements, policies, procedures, and standards.
