Sono Japanese Restaurant, Portside Wharf - Brisbane's premier modern Japanese restaurant located on the beautiful Brisbane River is currently looking for an experienced Full Time Chefs/ Cooks in Japanese cuisine.
Starting Salary from $60, 000 plus superannuation.
We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified chefs/ cooks to join our experienced and award winning team. Previous experience in Japanese cuisine is required. Experience in Sushi and Sashimi making and Teppanyaki skills would be an advantage. The successful applicant will display excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with both our staff and patrons, as well as having a neat and tidy presentation. This position will see you working in conjunction with other experience Chefs.
The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
You will be responsible for daily food preparations and duties assigned by the Executive Chef to meet the set food safety standards and practices;
Prepare appropriate food quantities for the daily service;
Assist food production in the different sections of the kitchen, teppanyaki and sushi counter;
Follow the instructions and recommendations from the Executive Chef to complete daily tasks;
Ensure the highest food quality standards and consistent quality in the daily preparations;
Keep up to date with new products, recipes and preparation techniques;
Coordinate and participate with other kitchen sections in cleanliness, wastage and cost control;
Consult with Executive Chef and Restaurant Manager on daily restaurant requirements, functions and last minute events;
Assist with maintaining an organised and efficient flow of production, with regards to changes in forecasts and menus and;
Create unique dishes that inspire guests to return again and again.
The successful applicant must have:
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant and proven work experience in a similar role and environment;
Ability to lead a kitchen section;
Able to work day and/ or night shifts, including weekends;
Have exceptional organisational skills, food safety supervisors course, and quality control measures;
Be genuine, enthusiastic and hardworking.
The team at Sono work hard to ensure a warm and comfortable atmosphere for both our staff and patrons. Staff meals, training and regular hours will be provided to the candidate that shows they are able to work hard, as well as display and eye for quality and detail in their daily work ethic. Familiarity with Japanese culture and cuisine would be of value.
Work hours will mainly consist of shift work, with weekend shifts required. We are seeking dedicated people for a long-term commitment with our restaurant. We are also able to negotiate a good salary package or hourly rate for the successful applicant.
