Position: Chef

Location: Salaam Namaste's Dosa Hut, Clayton, VIC

Job Responsibilities:
• Menu Planning and Cost Management: Craft and plan diverse menus, estimate and manage food and labor costs effectively, and ensure efficient ordering of food supplies.
• Quality Control: Oversee and ensure the highest quality of dishes throughout all stages of preparation and presentation, maintaining our standard of excellence.
• Team Collaboration: Engage in meaningful dialogue with management and staff, including kitchen and waiting teams, to discuss food preparation techniques and challenges.
• Skill Demonstration: Showcase advanced cooking techniques and provide guidance on culinary procedures to kitchen staff.
• Food Preparation: Take a hands-on approach to preparing and cooking diverse and delectable dishes that reflect the rich culinary traditions of India.
• Hygiene and Safety: Uphold and champion stringent hygiene and safety regulations to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
• Staff Development: Participate in the selection and training of kitchen staff, fostering a culture of learning and excellence.
• Food Preservation: Implement best practices in food preservation to enhance food quality and safety.

Hours of Work: Full-time, typically 38 hours per week.

Requirements:
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a professional cooking environment.
• Qualifications: AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma in a relevant field.

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 plus superannuation per annum.
