The Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant (General) to manage our financial operations. This role involves overseeing a variety of accounting tasks to ensure accuracy, compliance, and effective financial management. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage financial data efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Statements Preparation: Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring they comply with relevant accounting standards.
2. Tax Compliance and Filing: Prepare and submit tax returns (income tax, GST, payroll tax) accurately and on time, while staying up-to-date with tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
3. Transaction Recording: Record and manage financial transactions such as purchases, sales, receipts, payments, and payroll entries in accounting software. Ensure that records are accurate and up-to-date.
4. Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary financial documentation and support, ensuring smooth audit processes.
5. Risk Management: Identify potential financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Contribute to financial planning, including budgeting, investment analysis, and strategic decision-making.
6. Stakeholder Relations: Maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and regulators. Address inquiries and resolve any financial issues promptly and professionally.
7. Professional Development: Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and methodologies in accounting and finance to improve performance and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Requirements:
1. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CA certification is highly desirable.
2. Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a professional accounting role, preferably within an educational institution or similar industry.
3. Skills: Proficiency in accounting software, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication abilities.
4. Work Rights: Must have full working rights in Australia.
5. Personal Attributes: Organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. A commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
