Burlington Berries is a family-owned and professionally managed soft fruit farm located in Cressy Tasmania. We produce fresh strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries under contract to Driscolls Australia. We employ the latest technologies and production skills combined with an on farm packhouse and processing facility. We harvest fruit from May to October. We are seeking a Facilities Plant Manager to join our dynamic and supportive team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- The day-to-day management of the soft fruit facilities including protected cropping structures
- Creating and maintaining a strong and sustainable team
- Providing a safe and sustainable workplace
Main Responsibilities to include but not be limited to:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the facility including shed floor, tunnels and ancillary work areas including storage facility
- Manage the implementation of the agreed weekly, monthly and seasonal plan
- Lead a team of supervisors and staff to manage the site efficiently and productively
- Managing inventory and planning based on weekly plans
- Liaise with harvest and management on daily and weekly objectives and goals
- Liaise with harvest staff on inwards fruit/plant volumes, and quality in the facilities
- Liaise with stakeholders on fruit/plant logistics
- Oversee produce quality control inwards and dispatch
- Ensure all protocols and MRL requirements are adhered to
- Responsibility of the cool chain from intake through to dispatch
- Drive productivity on cost efficiencies in all areas
- Work within a budget and report against actual results
- Be responsible for capex procurement
- Ensure timely reporting on daily, weekly and monthly levels
- Work with HR manager on seasonal recruitment and training
- Organise a rotating roster within the award guidelines
- Drive productivity with a LEAN management focus
- Responsible for industry compliance and production protocols,
- Assist with intercompany relationships
- Manage site visits from 3rd parties
- Oversee the out of season plant maintenance
- Manage/Assist new projects and developments
- Identify risks and work with the WH&S officer to provide a safe and inclusive workplace
- Manage the WH&S program including risk analysis, policies, and procedures
- Report to the WH&S officer in line with company strategy
Relevant Qualification:
Experience in facility management, management of teams, soft fruit production, WH&S.
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience in facility management
- Have experience in packhouse, protected cropping and processing environments
- Have knowledge of intensive soft fruit production
- Have experience in staff and team management
