About Us:
Umoona Aged Care is a not-for-profit organization, with a team of people dedicated to providing quality care to our Aboriginal elderly and disability clients, located in our residential facility and/or in the community. Working alongside NDIS, we offer quality assistance and medical health support for clients with minor to complex health conditions.
This position is Full time, including weekends, on a rotating roster.
Role:
We are seeking people who are physically fit, active, energetic and enthusiastic individuals that have a passion for caring for the vulnerable and aged.
You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day needs of our clients such as providing personal care, meal preparation, domestic assistance (including cleaning of facility and personal items, including clothes and linen) and social support. You’ll get to know your clients well, understanding their needs, preferences and culture so you can support them for better quality of life.
Responsibilities:
Work with clients and assist with their cultural, physical and medical needs.
Providing emotional support by talking to clients about their needs and listening to their concerns.
Assisting with activities of daily living including cleaning, hygiene, dressing etc.
Assist clients to participate in leisure activities.
Complete mandatory documentation of day-to-day occurrences in relation to the client
Essential Criteria:
Current National Police Check or willing to obtain
The ability to develop a positive relationship with the client, as well as comply and respect cultural practices
Cert III in Individual Support or Cert IV in Disability (or equivalent) is desirable but not mandatory
Those who do not live in Coober Pedy, or do not communicate ability to move to Coober Pedy will not be considered for this role.
