Position Overview
As a Formwork Carpenter (Leading Hand) at KWIK FORMWORK, you will play a pivotal role in the construction, erection, and installation of formwork for various structures on key projects. This position requires a skilled tradesperson with leadership abilities to ensure the successful completion of tasks while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
• Review and Interpret Plans: Carefully review and interpret project plans and blueprints to identify the materials needed, dimensions, and the best installation approach.
• Material Selection and Planning: Select and order the necessary materials and prepare detailed layouts for the formwork construction process.
• Construct, Erect, and Install Formwork: Execute precise measurements and work from technical drawings to create and set up formwork for concrete structures.
• Installation of Cladding and Fixtures: Install fascia panels, roof sheathing, and fit exterior cladding, along with door and window frames, to complete the formwork.
• Maintenance and Repairs: Carry out repairs on existing formwork and structures as needed, ensuring they remain functional and up to standard.
• Versatile Material Handling: Work with a range of materials, including laminates, Perspex, and metals, as required by the project.
• Lead and Supervise: Oversee a team of formwork carpenters, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to and enforce safety protocols on-site, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.
• Quality Control: Inspect and verify the quality of the formwork installation, ensuring it meets project specifications and industry standards.
• Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other trades to coordinate and streamline the construction process.
• Problem-Solving: Identify and address any issues that arise during the formwork installation process, finding effective solutions to keep the project on track.
• Training and Mentoring: Provide guidance and training to less experienced team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Skills
• Cert III Equivalent & Experience: This position requires a Certificate III equivalent and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the trade in a similar environment.
• Industry Knowledge: Demonstrated industry knowledge is essential for this position.
• WA Building and Construction Industry Card: A current WA Building and Construction Industry White/Blue Card is mandatory.
• Leadership Experience: Previous experience in a leading hand role is required.
• Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret drawings accurately.
• High-Rise Experience: Prior experience in high-rise construction is highly desirable.
