Ormeggio at The Spit, located at d’Albora Marina in Mosman, is a buzzy Italian seafood fine-dining restaurant and Cocktail Bar.It has two chef hats, is often listed among Australia’s top restaurants and has an incredible team of skilled people from all over the world in its team.
Ormeggio's wine list has been winning awards since opening in 2009. We are looking for seasoned Sommeliers with premium dining experience to join our tight knit team. Our wine list is specially curated by our in-house head sommelier and we source our stock from boutique local and international suppliers. Our list is heavy with Italian varietals, with a scattering of French, Australian and New Zealand wines.
As one of our key service staff, your role is to provide food & wine pairing suggestions to our customers and to also aid in educating our team as required. As our Sommelier, you will also be passionate and engaged in growing our list, help with managing our cellar and delivering exceptional service.
Essential Ormeggio Requirements:
* Australian working rights
* Fluent English
* Wine Knowledge
* Current NSW RSA Certificate
* Minimum of 18-36 months working in fine-dining or similar hatted restaurants
* Completed formal wine studies
* Food & wine pairing experience
* Desireable requirements:
* Prior experience using POS system
* Working knowledge of Italian cuisine and wines
* SevenRooms or similar online reservation system
Tasks include:
* Aiding our Head Sommellier in managing and developing a wonderful varied and worldly cellar with the support of your team and encouragement of the other senior management members
* Continuous training and development to ensure current knowledge
* Advising customers on wine pairing with food, occasion and budget
* Liaise closely with other restaurant staff, so that you are on hand to take drink orders and serve guests at the appropriate time
* Responsible for briefing other restaurant staff on the wine list, so that they promote particular wines and can advise customers
