They now seek an experienced Dressmaker to join their team in Moorabbin in Victoria.
The Role
This is a full time salary with an annual salary set at $73,210 plus superannuation.
Responsibilities
Meet with clients to discuss and understand their requirements regarding materials, styles, and designs for garments
Analyse and interpret designs, sketches, and samples to determine the necessary pattern specifications
Create master patterns based on the client's specifications and design details
Assist customers in selecting appropriate fabrics and materials for their desired garments
Accurately lay up and cut fabric according to the master patterns
Pin and baste garment parts together to prepare for fitting and adjustments
Drape fabric on dress forms or clients to assess fit and style
Construct garments by sewing pieces together, ensuring quality and durability
Fit basted garments on customers to identify areas that require alterations and adjustments
Mark and note areas on the garment that need alterations based on the fitting session feedback
Make precise alterations to garments to achieve the perfect fit as per customer requirements
Sew buttonholes and attach buttons, hooks, eyes, and press fasteners to complete the garment
Press garments to give them a polished and professional finish
Inspect finished garments for quality assurance, ensuring they meet the company’s standards and customer satisfaction
Requirements
Relevant Certificate 3 qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience in dressmaking or tailoring in a commercial role
Minimum of 3 years experience in creating and modifying patterns based on custom designs
Minimum of 3 years experience in constructing a variety of garments from start to finish
Minimum of 3 years conducting garment fittings and performing precise alterations
Ability to interpret design sketches, specifications, and samples accurately
Experience in interacting with clients to understand and fulfill their garment requirements
Advanced proficiency in sewing techniques, including hand stitching and machine operation
Extensive understanding of various fabrics, their properties, and appropriate handling techniques
Strong skills in drafting, cutting, and modifying patterns
High attention to detail to ensure quality craftsmanship and accuracy in garment production
Have at least one contactable work referee
