Our client, Spartan Steel Co, which was formed in 2018 and located at Altona North is looking for a Welder to join their team on a full-time basis. They manufacture and install all the structural steel & scaffolding requirements across Victoria in residential and commercial sites.
Job Summary: For the Welder position, responsibilities include installing and maintaining industrial equipment. Work with heavy machinery, such as bandsaws and cranes to assemble and install large pieces of equipment. Reading and interpreting codes, symbols, and schematics to determine proper setup and procedures. The role will report to the Director.
The annual salary will be $100,000 per annum plus superannuation.
Duties:
? Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
? Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
? Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements).
? Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, and flame cutting torches.
? Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
? Align components using callipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
? Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).
? Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering.
? Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting.
? Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.
? Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding.
? Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.
? Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
Qualification and Experience Required:
? Relevant Trade Qualification or AQF Certificate III of welding fabrication
? Must have at least 3 years of full-time experience in a similar position
Skills Required:
? Ability to work with minimal supervision.
? Demonstrate the ability to perform physical/manual labouring tasks related to a welder in a safe manner.
? Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
? Ability to read drawings, work to a time frame and complete tasks with a high-end finish.
? Eye for detail and quality.
? Be able to read and produce from computer-generated drawings.
