Position: Chef

At OKAMI Japanese Restaurant, we specialize in an all-you-can-eat service, offering an extensive array of traditional Japanese cuisine. Our guests enjoy a diverse menu that includes everything from sushi and sashimi to tempura and teriyaki, all made with high-quality ingredients. Our commitment to culinary excellence provides a delightful journey through Japanese gastronomy.

Located at 19 Lawson St, Penrith NSW 2750. We are currently seeking a talented Chef to enhance our team, someone who is dedicated to culinary arts and eager to contribute to an extraordinary dining experience. As part of our team, you will collaborate with our manager to design and implement a menu that not only satisfies but also excites our guests.

You will need to perform the following duties:

· Design and implement a menu that complements our restaurant's concept, combining innovative approaches with classic flavours to enchant our patrons.

· Manage food and labour costs effectively, sourcing the finest local ingredients to ensure freshness and adhere to seasonal trends.

· Ensure the highest quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation, maintaining our standard of excellence.

· Coordinate with the management and staff to discuss culinary processes and menu items, ensuring all dietary requirements are met and operational standards are maintained.

· Mentor kitchen staff on advanced cooking techniques and the unique preparation of our signature dishes.

· Handle food preparation and cooking duties, particularly during peak hours, focusing on impeccable presentation, flavour, and efficient service.

· Uphold and advocate for stringent hygiene and food safety standards, adapting them to the fast-paced environment of our restaurant.

· Train and develop kitchen staff in food preparation and presentation to ensure consistency and quality across all dishes.

· Supervise the storage and preservation of food supplies, implementing effective methods to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize waste.

The essential requirements for this position:

· Minimum of 2 years of experience as a chef or in a similar culinary role.

· Relevant qualifications such as Certificate III and IV in Cookery and a Diploma in Hospitality Management or equivalent.

· A friendly and collaborative attitude, capable of thriving in a team-oriented environment.

· A profound passion for the culinary arts and a commitment to exceptional guest service.

· Demonstrated ability to work cohesively with fellow team members.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $73,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
