AGRIFresh Pty Ltd (ABN: 33102693701) is a fresh fruits grower in Badgingarra and Dandaragan, Western Australia, with its own packing shed at Badgingarra supplying fresh fruits (Citrus and Mango) to Western Australia’s retail and wholesale markets as well as the export markets.
Full-time role as an Orchard Hand to start in November 2024.
Wages are based on Full Time Horticulture Award Level 2: $24.10/hour
Location of work: Agaton Road at Badgingarra and Muthawandery Road at Dandaragan.
The Role
• Full-time hours: 38 hours per week on an hourly rate
• Maintenance with the use of hand tools to fix machinery and implements
• Tractor operator
a. Implement pulled by the tractor (Spray unit; Slasher unit; Skirting bar; Hedger Unit; Trailers)
b. Calibrate the spray unit, check nozzles, fill up the spray cart
c. Slashing inter-rows and daily routine check and maintenance of the unit before operating it
d. Machinery pruning with Hedger and a Skirting bar – ensuring the implement is set at the right height and specification
e. Familiar with the terrain while pulling trailers
• Working with trees and vines in an open field, in an orchard
• Working under hot and cold weather conditions in the field, workshop or shed.
• Orchard hygiene to ensure better quality fruits
• Tree pruning and tall trees removal
• Harvest picking – on piece rate
a. Lifting up to 20kgs with a joey bag
b. Operating on heights which involve climbing on a ladder to pick fruits
c. Fruit snipping and snapping with repetitive action
• Supporting team for the harvest crew
a. Bringing bins into the field
b. Bringing bins from the field to the shed
c. Loading bins to the trucks/ trailers
• Other Orchard Hand-related work
• Willingness to learn new skills
• Willingness to perform different tasks
• May require working on weekends
Requirement for the Role:
• Ability to conduct repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment over long hours.
• Ability to communicate and interact with people at all levels and to follow directions from the Supervisor/Manager
• Have a hard-working, can-do attitude.
• Healthy and Fit with no fear of heights and no restriction in hand movement
• With experience of at least 2 years in machinery operation
• Ability to carry at least 18-20kg of load
• Working with machinery in dirty conditions
• Be willing to relocate to the onsite accommodation or local towns
• Ability to work as a team
• Commit to following established workplace procedures and health and safety practices
• Access to reliable transportation
• Commit to being flexible and punctual in shift times
• Basic understanding of machinery
