We now have a vacancy for an experienced Project Engineer to join our growing team.
Major Objectives
Monitoring key construction requirements to ensure they are achieved in line with project’s specifications.
Managing work conducted on site by subcontractors and suppliers.
Implementing prompt and safe corrective action on site if required.
Maintaining all relevant project document control and records.
Management of site engineers and supervisors (if requested).
Liaise with key stakeholders.
Submission of RFQ's and RFI’s.
Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that the project is implemented in accordance with plans, designs, and specifications.
Assist with the preparation of site construction budgets and reports.
Monitor construction progress for adherence to programme, planning and scheduling site.
Arrange and oversee the tenders if required.
Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence.
Provide input in managing project Quality Systems with respect to inspections, checklists, documentation, and record keeping.
Exercise professional judgement in resolving engineering issues, i.e. construction methods, design, engineering procedures, etc.
Compliance with the Safety and Environmental Responsibilities.
Undertake cost controlling and estimating as required by the project.
Key Accountabilities
Oversee and ensure that all Safety and Environmental Responsibilities are being adhered to at all times.
Coordinate with Senior project engineer and other managers on; temporary works, scheduling, and status of the project.
Provide overall progress reports and other reports related to schedule and cost as required by the Senior Project Engineer/Project Manager.
Provide general technical assistance to supervisory personnel.
Interpret engineering documents and drawings for field personnel.
Control fabrication, field construction engineering and schedules for overall programs.
Participate in upstream tendering for new projects, including but not limited to Estimating.
Participate in bid evaluation of subcontract tenders.
Prepare reports on progress, manpower and costs and coordinate the work scheduling and procurement.
Monitor and coordinate the preparation maintenance and change of construction schedules, methods, manning charts and equipment requirements. Advise on actions to be taken to prevent or improve undesirable trends in progress.
Ensure the currency and accuracy of information for schedules and reports, provide timely submission of reports and project schedules.
Develop and oversee inspection practices of Site Engineers to ensure effective and satisfactory progress and completion of all work areas for the project.
Ensure temporary works designs and fabrication are verified prior to use of the specific item.
Carry out progressive engineering QA/audits of temporary works in accordance with the audit schedule.
Skills and Work Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
At least 5+ years’ related field and project planning experience.
Current and relevant driver’s license.
Leadership and communication skills to manage teams and stakeholders.
Attention to detail to ensure technical specifications are met.
Knowledge of relevant engineering tools, software, and standards.
Collaboration skills to work with other technical experts and contribute to the project's technical success.
Good organisational and time management skills to keep the project on track.
