The Opportunity
We are looking for a Geophysicist to join our Perth team, to assist with the acquisition, processing and analysis of near-surface geophysical data for our clients.
Typical geophysical methodologies include Bathymetry, Side Scan Sonar, Single Channel Seismic Reflection, Multichannel Seismic Reflection (such as HR, UHR and UUHR), Sub-Bottom Profiling, Seismic Refraction, Electrical Resistivity and Magnetics.
Responsibilities include:
• Work with clients and the wider Fugro team to plan, acquire, process and analyse marine geophysical data
• Participate in offshore surveys, with responsibilities for the acquisition of high-quality geophysical data and the documentation of QC
logs
• Collecting physical samples from the seafloor for laboratory testing purposes
• Supervise the interpretation of geophysical results, determining the engineering features and studying the natural effects on the seabed
• Prepare studies and reports of the structure, formation and physical features from the interpreted geophysical information
• Process geophysical data by following and optimising our digital workflows to achieve a technically robust geophysical-ground models
• Assess/ interpret geological or geotechnical data
• Keep up to date with industry advancements and contribute to the development of internal geophysical processes, systems and
techniques
• Contribute to scientific papers prepared by company
• Contribute to maintaining the highest Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental standards
• Provide advice and guidance to less experienced staff
About You
Your success in securing this role will require:
• Degree / Higher Degree in Geophysics, Physics, Geology, Geoscience, Engineering, Geomatics or Computer Science
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Good understanding of geophysical methodologies
• Ability to assess or interpret geological or geotechnical data
• Willingness to work offshore for periods of time
