Smart Berries have a number of horticulture roles available across our berry farms and packing sheds located in Mundubbera QLD, Perseverance Dam QLD and Forth TAS.
Mobile Plant Operator
We are looking for Mobile Plant Operators to join our farming teams. The key responsibilities are:
Operating farm machinery, such as a tractors and attachments.
Maintenance and calibration of sprayers.
Operating tractor attachments for harvest and non harvest farming activities
Other tractor operations on the farm as required
Undertaking chemical spraying, including fungicides, insecticides, and herbicides.
Operating tractor-drawn and self-propelled plant to plough land and sow, fertilise, cultivate and harvest crops
Maintaining production and work records and writing work reports
Servicing plant and performing minor repairs
Salary range: $73,000 to $80,000
About you
We're looking for candidates who share our values and passion to contribute to the success of our berry farming operations. To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:
Prior experience managing, leading or supervising on a horticulture farm, including experience in overseeing labour, growing, irrigation, and working to financial outcomes.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate and develop a team.
A strong drive to achieve and a passion for farming.
A background in agronomy, irrigation, or berries will be highly regarded.
Prior experience operating a tractor and other farm machinery will be highly regarded.
Comprehensive knowledge of horticulture practices.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve.
Physical fitness and ability to work in varying weather conditions.
Self-motivation and the ability to work both in teams and independently.
